Help find an old thread
Someone posted a site from China (I think?) for dirt cheap glasses. I need some cheap prescription sun glasses to throw around in my car/truck. I though it was on my own thread about giving up my left nut for a pair of glasses at LensCrafters some time ago with no luck. Can anyone offer any help? Thanks

I get my prescription sunglasses (and reading glasses) from this guy in Hong Kong: www.optical-pro.com Over a few years I have got a range of glasses from him, from an expensive pair of Silhouette titanium to some bargain priced frames off his web page (which I am wearing now). You choose the degree of tint & scratch resistance. You can pay with PayPal. I suggest you first try an inexpensive set & if you like those, then upgrade. I am very happy with my purchases. Very cool. Thanks guys.

I scored 3 pairs of prescript glasses for the wife in Shanghai for $100. Let me know if you need me to dig up the location and name of the shop. It was in an accessories building with literally dozens of optical shops. Wait time was 1 hour for the glasses.

Yes please motion. Thank you.
What's the quality like? It's a deal for 100 bucks. 15+ years ago, I sat on my only glasses in Hong Kong. They sent me to this place and had my eyes check and has these super thin German made lens for about $150 akin the same day. Great quality and a great deal. To top it off, I can't function without them. They save my ass. |
Hijacking this thread:
There was a thread a while back with a link to a website that had a database of aerial photography of most towns in the USA. Very interesting to see, and helpful to determine if there was an earlier building or other construction on a property. I am searching for a new home, and that website would be help me now determine if there may be any potential issues with the land (foundation issues if home was built on a well...etc.). Anyone remember this thread? Thanks, -Z |

Quality is very good. My wife loves them.
Here is the place: Address: Muling Road #188, 4-5 Floors (穆棱路188号4-5楼) Getting there: Shanghai Railway Station stop (上海火车站). The glasses market shopping mall is across the intersection from the south exit of the railway station A relevant thread: optic store-need recommendation - Shanghai Forum - TripAdvisor Photo of the shop I went to: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1429075788.jpg Quote:

Not the cheapest, but they send you up to 5 pairs of frames for free to wear and decide how they fit, etc. Then they have basic knock-around type glasses for around $100 shipped, with poly lenses and anti-everything coatings. |
My wife had good luck with:

I think we should find the thread about jet-fokking-black... my fave post ever.
