Last Thursday's Four Pass Blast
Last Thursday marked the opening of the last of our seasonally closed mountain passes over our Cascade range here in Washington. As has become an annual tradition on this date, a rather rag-tag group of riders assembled to celebrate by doing our best to ride as many as possible in one day. We succeeded in crossing Washington Pass, Rainy Pass, Loup Loup Pass, Blewett Pass, and Chinook Pass for a total of almost 600 miles of riding.
The weather was cool and mostly dry, although we did get hailed on going over Blewett and snowed on going over Chinook. All in a day's fun for a Pacific Northwest rider. This year it just happened to turn out that we had four Yamaha FJR's and one HD Road King (me). Boy, were there ever times I was wishing I was on my 900 Super Sport. The problem with that bike, though, is there is just no way I could sit on it for that long. So, the duty of trying to keep up with the mighty FJR's fell to the Road King. While it handled the day with aplomb, I'm relatively certain it was never meant to spend so much time bouncing off the rev limiter... Anyway, here's some pics, taken from the lead bike, my buddy on his FJR: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1429067813.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1429067837.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1429067870.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1429067889.jpg |
Higgins, you pansy! Oh wait, never mind.
Today I found out that the crush washer from a 911 drain plug works wonderfully on the drain plug from a 900ss. That's all I got for today. |
