My conversation with my brother indicated slow plumbing in the both the pressure pipes and the drain pipes. The plumbers were at the store 3 and 4 times a week to fix and has been an ongoing problem for quite a few years. In addition to the slow running pipes there were also leaks that were filling a "pit" underneath the store. Walmart suspected sabotage by employees and more security cameras were installed but there was never any evidence of wrongdoing.

Seems like a cost/maintenance issue, sorry to break up the conspiracy theories.

It's not FEMA or martial law camps?

At least the employees of one Walmart were involved in the protest for higher wages

That never stopped OT.

I say it's aliens.

It's definitely a 'plumbing problem'. The problem will probbly be flushed out as having something to do with a cashflow blockage.

I'd fire them.

I am a WalMart investor, and I am disappointed in the recent results. They need to close more stores in unprofitable areas.

Like I said before, I am a long time WalMart investor.

WalMart had 2.2M people of their payroll in 2014 (almost as much as the Federal Government, which operates at a big loss to taxpayers).

75% of WM employees that were hired are now are in management positions. 57% are women.

WalMart had $476 billion in revenue last year. They've been at a 24% profit margin for the last five years. Their debt is at about at 50% of stockholder equity, and it is fully covered by cash flow.

I'd like to find 10 other companies with these results.

I think the problem is that they have stopped growing. Same store sales are negative, total sales are growing just 2-3%, square foot growth has slowed a lot.

Rusty914s 04-19-2015 07:40 PM

Let them all close.

That is a fair argument.

I do not trade on the current lack of growth when I think growth will soon increase. The capital gains tax will kill me.

I also buy growth stocks at reasonable values when I can find them.

I think what we need to do is come up with the best tinfoil hat conspiracy theory of why they are closing.. Post it here, and then we all vote on the best one. :). I'll start...

They are gutting the stores to turn them into temp holding camps as they round up citizens critical of the Walmart management practices.

Wow, that is nice.

I bought a 1972 Norton Commando new. It had a little more compression than the regular Norton 750. I have pictures of it before someone stole it (great bike, red tank).

The closed Walmart stores will be converted to manufacturing facilities for Soylent Green?

bivenator 04-20-2015 06:17 AM

The closed Walmart stores will reopen and sell only American made goods. Nah, that's too far fetched to even consider. I like the FEMA camps idea best.

GH85Carrera 04-20-2015 06:54 AM

The Reptilians have taken over the management of Wal-Mart and those facilities will be converted into secure human breeding facilities. Everyone knows that the Reptilian's favorite food is human babies. They can capture the homeless people and illegal immigrants and use them to breed tasty babies.

I suppose YOU would step up and support those millions of workers who would lose their jobs?

Or was just sour grapes because they wouldn't hire YOU ...... ?

Maybe they could get back the better jobs they had before Walmart opened in their town and eliminated all of those businesses and jobs?

Walmart is the most cynical business on earth. Just a bottom-feeder corporation, selling cheap Chinese crap to poor Americans and employing them at poverty wages while the rest of us pay for their benefits through public assistance. Oh you didn't know that many Walmart employees qualify for PA even though they're employed?

But at least they killed thousands of small businesses in rural and urban America with the purchasing power and ability to undercut anyone with volume and crap product. Americans love a bargain and many are struggling, Walmart saw the opportunity and pounced. Yes, it's all legal and they've made zillions. But it's capitalism at its most cynical and mercenary, not at all the way it was supposed to work out.

The company is a scourge on America and part of a huge decline in decent blue collar jobs and "the American way", IMO. :(
