F1 guys, a question (China F1)
I can't makes sense out of Rosberg's gripe with Hamilton. Ham was 2 or 3 or more seconds ahead the whole race. What did he want Ham to do? or not have done?
Rosberg was never gonna catch Ham and Seb didn't have the pace to pass Nico. ???? Strange. Nico was just pi**ed, I guess, at not being up to Ham's pace, maybe? |
I think his complaints were valid...
I'm not sure he could have passed Hamilton, but he very likely would compromised his race by trying and failing. If he closed the gap to a second or so to put on the pressure, he'd wreck his tires because of lost downforce. With that in mind, he hung back in the cleaner air, and resigned himself to second place... not very heroic (to put it mildly), but well reasoned. His problem was that Hamilton nursed his car so much that he put Nico at risk with the Ferraris. One could even argue that he did it intentionally (unless Hamilton really was that slow... doubtful in my view). |
I think Rossberg should put up or shut up. There's no way Hamilton wouldn't have at least tried to pass Rossberg in the same circumstances.
|
If we have reached the point where being within 2 seconds of the car in front of you is bad because it will destroy the tires, F1 has well and truly jumped the shark. Time for me to find another way to spend that time.

So Ham slowed down hoping for Nico to get passed by Seb? How would that be of benefit to Ham? Seems far fetched.
The only guy who's ever going have clean air is the leader. I guess he could've thought "these guys are never going to pass me in dirty air, I'd better pull off and let them by" I know what you're saying, but seems he (Ham) shouldn't have to look after Nico's race and his own. |

Did catch and really enjoy the WEC sports car race at Silverstone. This was really exciting to watch. Great battles for the lead at different points in the race , and I mean epic battles. Porsche and Audi going hammer and tong lap after lap. The performance of these LMP 1 cars is incredible their aero and mechanical grip opening the whole track for them to work their way thru traffic or to set each other for a pass. Cool seeing Ferrari, Porsche, Aston Martin, and other GT cars really competing with each other. The new Porsche 918 is coming very close to the well established and mostly dominate Audi diesel monsters. A little more reliability in the Porsche squad and its on for the lead. I'm loving the innovation and differing approach in design concept . Largely missing in most other series these days Great drivers, competitive cars in most of the classes, and genuine racing for the lead. This is what we watch racing for. Check it out , I doubt you will find yourself dozing off while watching! Cheers Richard |

I am hoping the support race at Long Beach with the incarnation of ALMS will be as good. Thinking with the NASCAR overlay maybe not.

Good article Paul, the length of these races does work against the series for casual TV viewer. I didn't see the hour long highlight show that was to air later, but that may be what's needed to bring more viewers into this series.
Fantastic driver line up for these races. Looking forward to Spa. The long straights there may favor Porsche in LMP1 . Its great and a bit surprising that we are getting to see these races here in the US. This exposure may help build appreciation for the amazing event that Le Mans offers. Cheers Richard |
What TheMentat said. And yes, F1 has well and truly jumped the shark. Whatever the hell that means.

Place first in qualifying. Problem solved.

Most F1 drivers have the emotional maturity of a 9yr old, some are actually only slighly older in age
What you saw was little Nico having a small temper tantrum because he couldn't drive as fast as Lewis |
They used to complain about Hamilton blaming his equipment. Contagious, I guess.
Mercedes went very public stating there are no 'team orders' within Mercedes. So if the guy in front of you is your team mate and he's holding you up, pass him. It's racing. Close that 2-5 second gap and try to pass. Give us some racing to watch. |
