Creditkarma.com?

They seem to only want to ask for the last 4 of your SS#, DOB and address. No CC # requested. They then ask you to validate with an email address and ask you to verify a few loans, like house and car, which they show you, you don't give them that info. You have to agree to accept some spam to your email address.

Any thoughts?

The catchy name throws me off.

You can get all your credit info directly from the reporting agencies.

Our health care insurer recently got hacked and we were provided free fraud prevention program from them.

Its likely the same thing may be out there for you.

I've tried creditkarma.
I haven't received any spam.

Have been a member for a couple of years now.

Completely free.

Works as advertised.

Their business model seems to be a clearing house for credit offers.

Meaning while you are in the dashboard they will show you offers for new cards, balance transfers, etc..

But they are presented in a non intrusive manner. You barely notice them. There UX is well done.

No hard sell "Wanna chat about offers?" popups.

They have some tools to show you how to lower you payments, generally tied to taking one of the offers but again nothing forced or intrusive.

I'd be hard pressed to remember the last time I got unsolicited email from them, ie; they are not spammy.

I can't confirm about creditkarma, but Stomachmonkey has.

I can confirm that you are completely safe and free to get a yearly check at

https://www.annualcreditreport.com/

stomachmonkey 04-30-2015 08:10 PM

OK, just checked my gmail that backs up all my email accounts.

Yeah they send you emails but I have like 25 in 3 years.

Not terrible.

Have not logged in in a while, the interface changed.

Not as user friendly as it used to be.

Not sure what they were thinking.

I've been using annualcreditreport.com for years. I don't know that I've ever gotten an email from them. I bought my score from Equifax once during the credit report process and ended up getting emails from them occasionally, but nothing from annualcreditreport.com.

I know the founder, it's a good company with a good product. I've been using it for at least 8 year.

Fantastic service, free and it's updated constantly.

scottmandue 05-01-2015 11:44 AM

Also been using it with no problems... and as a tech I'm pretty paranoid about giving up my info on the internet.

What was that? Did you see that? I think it was a Yeti with a death ray!

Anyone still using creditkarma.com? Any complaints since the last post 4 years ago?

Equifax and Yahoo Breach are all requiring some kind of credit monitoring to receive the cash payout and this one is free and fulfills their obligations.

Thanks,
Neil

I've been using credit karma for a few years, works great, free.
Get the occasional e-mail. Maybe one a month.

A930Rocket 09-23-2019 06:39 PM

Been using it for years. No spam email that I recall.

KFC911 09-24-2019 02:57 AM

Never been there....no need. Zero emails...

jcommin 09-24-2019 03:13 AM

agreed! works for me no problems or emails

KevinTodd 09-24-2019 04:30 AM

Works like a champ. No spam, no unnecessary emails.

I have been a member of Credit Karma for at least 5 years, and I completely agree wit Stomachmonkey’s assessment.

berettafan 09-24-2019 05:54 AM

I use it but don't recall what I had to give them to set it up. I like it.

Neilk 09-24-2019 06:03 PM

Thanks for the confirmations. I signed up and like it so far. It's nice to see everything at a glance.
