A mother of twins was applying for public assistance in Passaic County, N.J., when she made the seemingly uncontroversial claim that one man was responsible for her progeny.

The truth, it turns out, was not so simple.

In an unusual ruling in State Superior Court in Passaic County, Judge Sohail Mohammed found that egg and sperm had colluded to create a medical oddity, according to a report in The New Jersey Law Journal on Thursday. The man who the woman said was the father of her twins was deemed responsible for only one.

The other, the ruling revealed, was conceived during a previously undisclosed tryst that happened within a week of sexual intercourse with the man she claimed was the father.

Anyone here ever bang two different ladies in the same week? I don't think it's that uncommon.

I agree. But protection is not 100%. I mean, who hasn't had a condom break in the heat of the moment?

Hasn't there already been the situation of a white male and a black male each being the father of "twins" ? I think this was over the period of one or two days. I think maybe the story originated on Maury?

I'm a big believer in personal responsibility. If you're dumb enough (or irresponsible enough) to get pregnant by two men within a one-week span, you need to reevaluate your life. Same goes for a man that impregnates 2 women in a one-week span. And if you ARE dumb enough to find yourself in this scenario, you deserve it. Own up and do what's right for the kids--on your own.


FWIW, even when I was first married and I knew my wife was on the pill, I still used a condom every single time, until we were ready to have kids. I was NOT going to have "oops babies" that I couldn't--or wasn't ready to--take care of.

There's a pretty strong argument for BJs.

Certainly this was a just decision by the court in favor of the baby-daddy, who only should have to pay child support for the one he sired.

I see continuing drama for the baby-momma who now needs to go after baby-daddy #2 to pay his share of the cost of the other child.

Truth is always stranger/better than fiction. You can't make this stuff up.
