Anyone in San Fran this weekend?

I'll be stopping by for a couple of days en route to NZ. I'd be down to meet some of you guys for a drink or two...

Autocrossing at Marina, CA about an hour and a half to two hours from SF. You are welcome to drop by...

Thanks for the invite, but I will not have a rental car...I'll be using public transportation until I get to Auckland.

...Or should I get a rental car and get out of the city? It's my first time in SF. This is really a spontaneous thing.

Stay in the City. Too much to see and do!

Don't call it "San Fran"....the locals dislike that only slightly less than "Frisco".

Well then stay there, do the usual stuff. Golden Gate Bridge on Sunday afternoon is less crowded.

Not necessarily in this order: Crookedest Street. Palace of Fine Arts. Ghirardeli Sq. Twin Peaks. Fisherman's Wharf. I'd personally skip Pier 39 if not for the sea lions.

Not mentioned above is chinatown, coit tower, and much more.
Two days isn't enough.
If you haven't experienced redwood trees, one of my hidden favorites was Hoover Redwood Grove

The city is very big for less than 7 miles across. You'll have plenty to do.
Traffic moves very fast and random.
Parking...well...good luck.

To the north is open vineyards and extremely nice coast,
To the south is surfers and hippy small town feeling with redwoods till you reach Monterey,
To the east is the Bay Bridge leading to even more city(don't even attempt except weekend days).

Don't bother renting a car. It is very easy to get around there. What part of town are you staying in?

Right by the presidio is part of the original Juniper trees that used to be what the local landscape used to look like. If you look at it a certain way, one can almost imagine what the entire area looked like when it was filled entirely with Juniper trees.

Yeah. Two days isn't enough, but this is so much preferable to a layover in LA. lol.

I'll be near Union Square.

Sears for breakfast.

If you dig Frank Lloyd Wright, check out VC Morris Gift Shop

You can take a streetcar to the Buena Vista for irish coffee, go to Ghirardelli Square. Renting a bicycle would not be such a bad idea either.

Dress accordingly.
60deg can feel like 35deg depending on the weather, and 75deg can feel like 110.
