Picked up a Stevens 555 over/under shotgun
I have lived near an Adventure Outdoors store for 5 years and never have gone in. Today was the start of a 2 week vacation so I decided to go over and " look ".............that didn't turn out well :D. I have had an itch for either an over under or side by side shotgun. For no particular reason other than I wanted one. I'm a lunch pail guy so I wasn't looking for one of the " B " guns just a good clean shooter. Looked around at some of the new stuff and then the salesman asks if I would be interested in used ? I said sure what you got ? I wanted a 12 gauge as I have a Winchester auto in the same gauge. He pulls out a Stevens 555 with 28 " barrels. My first impression is it was lighter than I thought it would be. Felt good in the hand, well balanced and pulled up to my shoulder very well. I looked the gun over one tiny tick mark on the barrel by tick mark I mean if you touched a black Sharpie on it the tick would be gone. Both barrel bores clean as a whistle. I doubt this gun has had more than 10 shots through it ! Stock was in great shape with a one tiny nick near the shoulder pad. Once again if touched with a wood touch up pen it would be invisible. These guns came out mid last year so at worst it's one year old. New they have a MSRP of 700.00 I got it for 449.00 with the original box, owners manual, 5 screw in choke tubes, choke tube tool and trigger lock. While not the buy of the century I think I did good. Yes I know it's made in Turkey but all the reviews I have found say it's a great gun. I got it home, oiled it up and threw it in the gun safe. Sorry no pics as I had to load the family car for the trip starting tomorrow. Can't wait to fire some rounds through her. SmileWavy
