New racing video game "Project Cars" - pretty amazing graphics

Sure wish they'd put this out for the Xbox 360. But then again, I'd probably spend way too much time in front of the TV if they did.

Holy moly, that's good stuff.

I'm not a gamer, but that could almost make me consider it.

I like the top-of-the-rollbar POV, but I'd want to see a driver's eye POV, too... maybe they let you change it.

The last driving game I played was GT1 or 2 on whatever console it ran on. My sons won the console and controllers in the late 90's on a be-the-7th-caller deal on a local rock station one morning while they were getting ready for school. It was a "Happy Gilmore" question.

I found the "feel" of the steering to be too twitchy and the track comparatively greasy. I wasn't able to adjust my normal seat-of-the-pants brain to the game so I could go fast and enjoy it. I probably played a total of less than 10 hours and just watched them play after that. The playbacks were cool to watch, but even they looked a little hinky with the changing POV thing.

I realize the technology has come light years since then and I've seen all kinds of driver chair/pedal/steering wheel (with feedback) setups, but they're mondo expensive.

Yahoo did a review this morning. I think I will need to put May 12th on the calendar.

In depth reading on this game suggests the controls will be no better than other console racers which is unfortunate. IMO once you've played iRacing with a wheel nothing else will do it for you.

We will buy it but I don't expect good physics.

There are a few out there that are pretty good with a wheel that are not subscription based. Force feed back is a must though. TrackIR or multiple monitors helps.

With PCARS I have hear (from reading the reviews) the graphics are great and it works well with a wheel but it is more like Shift than GTR in the physics department. While I applaud great graphics, they do no good when it feels like an arcade game.
