How many credit cards do you own?

Another thread got me thinking about this.
I have only ever owned one.....a MasterCard that I've had since 1984. Not sure what the limit is without looking but i'm quite certain I could buy a new car on it.

A friend of mine has a wallet about 4 inches thick with every card you could imagine in it. Don't know why. Gas cards, Home depot, Visa, MC, AmEx, etc, etc.

How many do you carry?

I have a Visa and Amex Card. I also have a Corporate Amex card.

Used to have around 15. Now down to 2 Amex cards. One business card with no limit, and one personal Reserve card. Annual fees on the 2 cards are $1,000, but I get a ton of benefits out them, so they pay for themselves.

Personal Amex (Costco), MC (Sams Club) and a corporate Visa for business travel.

Just one (Visa)

One Corporate and two personal. Plus one debit. All are Visa. I need options when I travel in case one gets declined due to a computer glitch, it happens once in a while, especially when you're overseas.

I se a mastercard debit card that pulls from the checking, and then a Visa with a high limit, but no balance. I use the debit card for gas, groceries, and normal everyday stuff, and the visa for travel, large purchases.

American World Elite MasterCard, a Chase Freedom Visa, and just opened a Carson's card when buying a bunch of furniture for our new house so we could save an extra 20%. May close it soon.

Always on the lookout for a high initial reward so I can sign up for another card.

Amex and a debit card.

I'm not a big spender, so just one... a Chase Veeza. I think that's how you spell it.

tops911 05-19-2015 06:43 PM

none except for the gov travel card the Army made me get last year (I avoided it for 28 years)

widebody911 05-19-2015 06:43 PM

VISA and a corp AMEX

wdfifteen 05-19-2015 06:43 PM

4- corp Amex and Visa, Visa for my LLCs, household account MC.

Craig T 05-19-2015 06:43 PM

I have two...an Amex with no limit and a VISA. The same two credit cards I've held for 29 years. Keep a zero balance every month.

I have neighbors and a sister paying for 2014 in 2015 at 16% due to an inability to avoid credit cards. Scary.

sammyg2 05-19-2015 06:52 PM

personal: Uno, and never carry a balance.

Company card: uno, $25k balance limit.

JavaBrewer 05-19-2015 06:58 PM

3 personal and 1 company and all zero balance.

Edit> learned my lesson years ago. Had 2 cards at limit and paying huge interest. Never again.

masraum 05-19-2015 07:21 PM

Used to have between 10 and 15, now down to 1 or 2.

wildthing 05-19-2015 07:44 PM

One. Don't really need another one.

aigel 05-19-2015 08:03 PM

1 Credit Card, 1 Debit card for backup on a spare acount, 1 corporate card for corporate expenses.

I think people with more than a couple personal cards have credit issues, as the only reason to get more is to get more credit or "deals". As you see on the other thread I am hesitant even adding a second card.
