Shackelton

I just finished re-reading South. Shackleton is probably the greatest example of positive thinking and perseverance I've heard of. It is difficult for me to comprehend how tough these men actually were.

Amazing.

Incredible story, helps to keep a proper perspective on how bad things can get.

Good book. Amazing what they went through just to get to South Georgia Island - and then cross it.

I have the South With Endurance book featuring Frank Hurley's photo plates from the expedition. Amazing story and photos. I bought it in Victoria at the Museum where they were showing the IMAX movie on the expedition.

The Endurance by Caroline Alexander was what got me hooked. Epic story of leadership and, well, endurance. Frank Hurley, who was the photographer, is a great story alone and I had contacted Cambridge for a few prints off the original slides. Back in the late 90's this was not so well known of a story and now i expect getting large format prints is much easier. Stunning photos.

I have read the book multiple times. It had a huge impact on my life and the way I was living back then.

When I first opened the thread I thought you visited his grave. And I was jelly

The Shakleton in the story is spelled differently... FWIW...

Even the OP got it wrong in the Title.
