I agree with most of the comments too - IMO either check your insurance, relax a bit and drive it, or sell it. The cars are stout and the people and parts to keep them going are still out there. I bet we would all regret letting our cars sit unused for a long time and then for health or some other reason we were unable to drive them anymore.

I sort of get it. I sold the Aston Martin DB4 for stupid money 7 years ago, in large part because parts were NLA.

In the early 70's Porsche theft in L.A. was rampant. I had a cherry 69 911S for which I paid less than $4k. I came back from class one day to find the seats and radio missing. Paranoia took over and I sold the car. I replaced it with a $7.5k Lamborghini Miura needing serious cosmetics. Paranoia disappeared as the thought that these were not popular targets for thieves due to their rarity. In retrospect, it was my own carelessness of parking in a vulnerable spot that led to the theft/vandalism. Wish I still had both of those cars. Drive what you love. However, bang for the buck is a qualifier. For what I paid they delivered in that department. Their value today would not be good bang for the buck. When I sell, I'll look for Big Bang for the Buck.

Some fool at the service station asked me if my (very average IMO) SC was for sale today.
I replied "everything is for sale at the right price". He didn't say a word after that :rolleyes:

I had a collector car I absolutely would not drive. Could not get myself to drive it, less than 10,000 miles when I bought it, when it hit 11,000 miles, I stopped driving it.

I sold it and got a car I would drive. It wasn't rational, but I could not get past it.

I'm not sure I follow. While the values of the cars have gone up, fixing them is still about the same. Unless you push a rod through your case, you can replace everything on the engine. Same on the transmission.
If anything I feel better fixing my car now because I know it's holding its value well. I must've spent about eight grand on my transmission :)

Anxiety in any form is energy sapping. If you can't drive and enjoy your 911 then it's time to move it on.

I agree... It's not like you're flushing money down the drain which happens with any "normal" car.
