But lately with the values rising and reading thread after thread of cars being stolen the fun is starting to turn to stress. I normally take my Cayenne to Hershey but this year my son said we have to take the 930 or I would rather stay home. I took the car and stayed in a Hotel overnight the desk clerk was very nice. When he saw the car he said I will give you a room on the first floor and you can park the car right outside the window. I could almost touch the car from the room. Still I could not sleep all night worrying about some idiot taking the car. I do not think I will ever leave the car out overnight on another trip again.
I always loved when it was outside my house and people would stop to ask questions and compliment it but now I just try to keep it hidden and the garage doors closed. The other day my son was cleaning his car with the garage open and a man stopped to ask if it was for sale he left his number but all I thought about was if he was really interested or just trying to get a look at how to steal it.
I am seriously considering selling it not because I do not want it anymore just because the fun is starting to be outweighed by the concern. Anyone else feel this way?

i feel the same way about mine. to make it worse, i stand to make a LOT of money if i sold mine today so the thought of someone running into the back of me or some fat chick flinging her door open and denting the original paint is nerve racking to say the least. all i can think about is how much that little dent would cost me. sure i can have it fixed but now it is repainted but i have lost what, $5-10k. i have also thought about the overnight trip and parking in a hotel parking lot and not sure if i would relax.
when i got the car i was really looking forward to taking trips with the wife, not so much anymore.

part of the problem is i am not rich and if had not of come into the car the way i did i could not afford to buy one so i think it is harder on someone like me

I never considered myself lucky that my car was far from original with a 5-footer paint job, but maybe I am. If someone dings the door and it gets repainted, so be it. In fact, it'll probably improve it. No reason at all not to drive it.

My 964 and 914 2.0 have both gone up in value. Doesn't affect the style of driving though. It does help when I have to dump money into it to fix something.....just maintaining our investment :)

I have a 'valuable' car I don't drive and a salvage title car I drive the crap out of.
