Burning Man
Anybody ever been? I'm considering going this year. Looks like it would be pretty damn interesting!
|
I have a friend who goes every year. Spending several days covered in dry lakebed alkaline dust surrounded by intoxicated loons never appealed to me but there is an artistic element found nowhere else on earth. Go check it out and report back.
|
I've never been but I have a few friends that go every year. I think the tickets are around $300+ and there are very specific rules on purchasing and using those tickets. And I'm fairly certain it sells out early so if you haven't got tickets yet you should move soon. One of my friends is a Ranger for the event. The whole event is very organized.
Lots and lots of drugs and debauchery, but I hear people respect individual boundaries. |
yes but I don't remember a damn thing other then a strange scar...

Just put on some of your girlfriend's clothes, take a bunch of MDMA, and go outside and ride your bicycle. Much cheaper.

I was in the airport in Reno when this thing kicked off four years ago. By the looks of those at the Burning Man booth and getting on the transport busses, I don't think it's for me. I've never seen so many white people with dreadlocks and red eyes in my life. The entire airport smelled like weed and B.O.

I would like to go just to see the spectacle...
But I would have to go by myself, pretty sure wifey would not be interested. I think I have passed that part of my life... but I still think it would be interesting to see the creative aspect of it. |

Gotta love the people who post about things they have never experienced.
|
Wiki says the event started from some guys who had bonfires on the beach in San Francisco...
However I seem to remember reading an interview with one of those "guys" where he admitted it all started when one of the guys broke up with his girlfriend and they took all her stuff she left behind to the beach and set fire to it. |

I don't need or want to experience any of those things. I will fight hard to remain ignorant about them all on a first hand experience. Party on dude, just leave me out of it. |

I'm Glad Nostril Cheese likes it, and I'll agree that the artistic part of it is very cool and compelling. Even for Moto-guys.
I have plenty of experience and will still stick by my previous comment, though. It just wasn't the same man, after it got over 100,000 people. :D |
