Alfa Romeo 4c
Anyone else think this is going to be good? I haven't driven one but all the articles compare against a Cayman...
Any differing opinions? |

As a life-long Alfa fan (and having owned four of them), I will say this:
If presented with an opportunity to buy a Cayman or a 4c, I wouldn't even hesitate a second in picking the Cayman. |

I read in a magazine a couple months ago that the Us version of the Alfa will be about 400-500 pounds heavier because of power stearing, ac etc. putting it at 2500 lb
destroying the performance of the 4 cylinder Last edited by BeeMaster; 03-08-2014 at 09:15 AM.. |

Is power-steering a government mandate? Wonder why they had to do it...

Electric seats was another one that add a lot of weight. Other wise the seat is fixed and doesn't move at all if I read the magazine right.

Sorry I found the road and track magazine the us version will not have power stearing I was wrong but It will still likely weigh over 2500 pounds. The things they say add weight are ac, radio, airbags, bumpers, moveable passenger seat.

Want.
It would be nice if it had the looks of an Italian car with the reliability of a Japanese care, but I fear it is all Italian.

I find myself lusting after it for some reason even though I know it'd be a pain in the *ss. Maybe some genetic defect. Same thing that made me get a Land Rover.

I read the article in Autombile, and have also owned an Alfa, it looks good but there is no way I would choose it over a Cayman. Jump in and drive the Cayman, anyplace, anytime.

I found a motortrend.com article discussing the weight increase. 220 lbs more. Like having a huge passenger.
They did say they wouldn't know what it would feel like driving-wise, since it's not here yet. As to quality issues, anyone in the EU care to comment? I would imagine they'd have improved over the more recent years. |

I HATE FAT PASSENGERS.
I think the video posted sums it up, if you don't want a Porsche Cayman like everyone else, now you have a choice for something a little different. Working on an alternate to the Boxster as well. NOVEMBER 2013 http://www.autoedizione.com/alfa-romeo-4c-spider-targa-spotted-first-time/ ![]() Quote:

A buddy of mine is trying to lock one in. He's wants one very bad. I hope he gets it. I own 6 Alfa's and can't wait to see one in person, cause the 8C was ugly as far as I'm concerned.
Hopefully they'll have one in Boston's Italian Car Day. |

I agree that it's pretty, but I think the new Cayman is just as attractive. And a better all-around car.
If I'm going to be spending Cayman money, I want a Cayman. ![]() But for Cayman money, if I'm buying an Alfa, I'm buying an early 60s Guillietta, fully restored.

In the Automobile Magazine article, and probably all the other car mag articles they compared the 4c to a base Cayman for the price point, 54k, but if they compared it to a Cayman S the price would change and so would the performance, the Cayman S would kick butt. I would still rather drive a Cayman.
