Old iPod 2 help needed...
I need some help from the Apple guys out there.
I have an old iPod Touch 2 8GB that my wife uses to listen to Pandora in the various parts of the house while sewing. Lately it quit working for some reason. I’ve never gotten into the operation of the iPod since she took it over very soon after I got it. It’s running Version 4.2.1, which is as high as an iPod 2 can go from what I’ve read. My daughter was trying to help her mom out the other day but to no avail. So here I am asking for help. If I go into the Settings>General>Reset file, if I hit the Reset All Settings, what will that wipe out? Everything? I also see an Erase All Content and Settings option, will that wipe all of the apps and operating system out? I’m not sure what I need to wipe out and if it’s like ‘formatting’ the hard drive on a computer if I wipe everything out. As it is right now, Safari won’t connect to the internet even though it says the wifi is connected to my router. I touch the Pandora app button and it does nothing but make the screen blink once and go back to the normal home page, I guess that's what you’d call it. Any ideas on how I can get this thing going again would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. ![]()

Due to its age I'd wipe it and start fresh. Then grab the absolute minimum number of apps that you can't live without from the App Store cloud.
I run an old iPod touch with a fresh restore loading only the rdio app I use for music and it works great.

Took your advice and just hit Reset All.
Worked like a champ once I connected to the router. Thanks for the help.

One thing to keep in mind Scott, that version of the ipod uses wireless G / B. If your router and every device in the house is using wireless N, it will bring down the entire wifi speed of the house IF you have B / G protection enabled in the router.
A little bit technical but it can be useful information if you wonder why the wifi in your house is slow. It will bring the wifi speed from a potential 300mbps to 54 whenever the ipod is on your wifi. Assuming your not using wireless AC. I have a dedicated access point for wireless B / G devices when they are required! ..Forgot to mention. If the router isn't setup properly, i.e. to allow older devices, you won't be able to connect to the internet. Thought it was your problem initially until it was resolved with a restart.
