Wheels
Hi There,
I'm not sure where to post this, but I'm trying to determine a value on a set of wheels and tires before I list them in the classifieds Wheels are HRE 18x9's and 18x11's Tires are Kumho ECSTA xs 315/30ZR18 235/40ZR18 Any help would be appreciated Thanks Jimhttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1435601178.jpg |
Let's start with, what was the purchase price of the wheels, and price of tires. % left on tires?
Tires, unless basically brand new are usually table stakes on a set of rims... HRE's are NICE |
And he's in Kelowna no California, so minus 30%..., aside from the currency gain.
|
If you're planning to ship internationally, it could be very expensive. Be sure to get accurate shipping quotes and work that expense with your buyer.

The wheels and tires came on a 930 I bought 2 years ago, so I really don't have a purchase price for them. I realize that the tires would probably be replaced by the purchaser, having said that I would remove them for shipping unless someone locally wanted to buy them the way they are.
I would also take them to Washington State for shipping or possibly deliver to the Seattle area, still looking for a value. Thanks Jim |
Personally, not an HRE fan, but I sold a set of mediocre condition turbo-twists (the heavy ones) for $900 + shipping. The guy I sold them to had them resold before even taking delivery for probably $1200, and that was with completely shot tires that were only in place to protect the rim during shipping.
The big question is, what price would make you happy? $500? $1500? $5000? Google shows a new set (different style) for $2000. . . or is that each? My opinion would be that they'd probably sell for about 1/2 of new partly because they're a funky color. |
^^^That'd be a per wheel price.
So, figure they were $8k new, $4G takes 'em :) |
what are the offsets? That will make a huge difference as to what crowd to sell to.
|
If you do ship them, I would not remove the tires. I've shipped and received several sets of wheels and strongly recommend leaving them on for extra protection. Factor in the extra weight of them for shipping, but it will safe you the HUGE headache of trying to make a damage claim through ups or fedex (I've had to make claims through both and it's a big pia)
As far as pricing goes, it's hard to say with the bright color. If they were a standard color, I'd think close to $3500 but figure the new buyer might want to change the color, that would add in $400-$800 to their price so maybe closer to $3k would get them sold faster. Also depends on how fast you want to move them. A higher sale price means you might sit on them for a bit. Also you mentioned that they're 18x9 and 18x11. Is that measured from outer lip to outer lip? Reason I ask is because HRE and most other wheels company measure from inner lip to inner lip (where the tire beads) and most times the thickness of the lips are around 1/2". Meaning if you measure the wheel from outer lip to outer lip (the true width of the wheel) and come up with 11", it's actually a 10" wheel. Hope that helps some. |
Those wheels were $1500-$1700 new per wheel. HREs make beautiful automotive pieces. Those would look stunning on any 930.
