Anyone have a new Ford Fusion?
I want to rent one if two child seats and three adults will fit in it.

Do you like the third adult? Child seats are BIG, and typically the middle seat is narrow. I looked at one for a company car, the back seat is adequate but not large.

We rented a Fusion last summer. We put one infant seat in the rear center position. Our grade-school-aged kids sat on either side of the infant seat and it was snug but OK for them. An adult could fit on either side of the infant seat, but it would be a little tight.
BUT, to have TWO child seats and an adult in the back seat would be challenging. The two child seats won't fit next to each other, so they'll have to be on the right and left, leaving the adult for the center seat. And no adult will fit. |
thanks for the help

neighbor has the hybrid version. wife is the primary driver. they have 3 kids. when all 5 of them are together 99% of the time they take his vehicle.
We (wife and I and her/him) just took the car up to VA to see a buffett concert with them. the trunk barely swallowed two overhead size pieces of luggage. very cramped car and very under powered with 4 adults in the car. I kinda equated the car to a very large 4 door city car that did nothing overly well. |
What an absolute pain in the arse to get in and out of the car if the "adult" has to sit in the middle and wait for someone else to remove a child seat before they can exit. The minivan might be worth the extra money.

I have three kids, we have rented a full sized car when on trips and it normally works out. Bigger backseat, bigger trunk. Hard to beat a van though.

Screw the rear seat capacity, buy it just for it's badass front end/grill - meanest Detroit has offered to the masses in about 40 years.
FWIW, my wife's 'full size' Accord is a tight squeeze with two car seats plus an adult in the middle. Bill K |
Checking in on this thread.
Wife wants Hybrid and the Fusion may say me from buying a Prius {not that there is anything wrong with that} |
