Favorite War flick?
Full Metal jacket is mine.....
Apocalypse Now is up there...... Saving Private Ryan had the most realistic opening scene. Some of the b&w flicks from back in the day are OK...... Talk among your selves, have a cawfee, bagel and a schmear....

Favorite TV watch back in the day was "Battle of the Bulge.". Others were "The Guns of Navorone," "The Dirty Dozen," "Where Eagles Dare," "Kell'y's Heros,"and of course, "The Great Escape.". As you can tell, the older films made an impact on me, probably as they were shown on TV well before cable and were a highly anticipated event for a young boy to enjoy during sleep over at a friend's house.

The Great Escape and Kelly's Heroes are mine.
I also think Glory is fantastic! Escape From Sobibor is another good one. Does Schindler's List count? Another incredible movie.

Full Metal Jacket. Yes.
Private Ryan was different and arguably better. Just not my favorite.

Old one...1957, The Enemy Below, with Robert Mitchum and Curt Jurgens. One US destroyer vs one German U Boat, and both captains are determined to win.
Also, The Great Escape and Von Ryan's Express.

If I may make a recommendation: Watch with good quality headphones. The dialog is very understated, yet is the underlying current of the movie. You must really pay attention. Not a popcorn flick.

G'day!

Hard to pick just one......most already mentioned are on my list.
"Midway" was a good one - especially from a historical perspective. Also "We were Soldiers".
