^ That was neat! Could only imagine all the tooling and machining involved as well.

BTW: Reminds of this flick from the early 1960's ~

Great Vid... I love how the whole side of the car is covered in one lightweight panel.

It really looks like the design engineers thought about maintenance and repairs.

There's a surprising amount of hand craftsmanship on that car!

Thanks for sharing that!

(I wonder if it's back to the Boxster assembly line for you if you drop a wrench!)

Thanks for the video link. Neat to see how much hand assembly is involved. Very special cars!

I had the opportunity to install clear paint protection film and custom matte film on #753.

The owner is a really nice guy! Realistic and excited about his car.

I got a ride and was offered the opportunity to drive it for a few miles. (Twist my arm!). Hybrid mode is where it's at if you are just cruising. Interesting how noisy it is with the V8 running. E Mode feels fine like taking off from a light in a regular car. In Hybrid mode tip the throttle in a little more, think 1,500/2,000 rpm, and the engine wakes up instantly.

Acceleration is as you might imagine! Better be paying attention! 50-85mph in 5th was almost instantaneous.
Ride was pleasant. The owner had lowered tire pressures to the below 165mph suggested. Nice compliant ride.

The chassis is stiff as you would expect, inside wheels lift going in or out of a steep drive.

Lots going on in the IP. Not so jazzed on all of the touch screen stuff.

Overall an amazing piece of technology!

Bizzare to have an 800+ HP car roll into the shop quietly.

Cooper

Wow, extremely cool. And yes, I was also surprised at the level of hand-craftsmanship - the car is essentially hand made.

Quite a few of the workers look to be very young - what a cool gig that would be eh?

Does anyone know what the large diameter shaft is that is being installed at about the 2:40 minute mark?

Very cool how they drive the car off at the end of the video under electric power.

I think they only made 918 cars - thus handmade.
