Craigslist turd or gem ? Double barrel shotgun
So I was perusing the local CL ads and saw one that stated he had an older double barrel shotgun and wanted to trade for a lawn tractor. Being somewhat of a gun enthusiest and having a spare lawn tractor I started the conversation. After exchanging some pictures we met for the exchange. I just got home a little while ago so have not done any internet research. Might as well go straight to Pelican :D . So it is a Stevens 12 gauge. The stampings on the gun state Stevens Arms Company, Chicopee Falls Mass USA. On the bottom of the gun it is stamped with Model 235. On the inside of the breech and on the bottom of the left barrel is stamped A27262. The barrel length is 19 3/4 " . I can't tell if that is the OEM length or if it has been modified. There is a single brass " sight " at the end of the barrels. She definately has patina ;) . Having manual cocking hammers I'm guessing she's fairly old. The inside of the barrels look clean and the lock up seems pretty tight. Stock is not original and neither is the rear shoulder pad. But I had so little in the garden tractor it was worth the gamble, plus I needed the shed space :D . There are no other markings on the barrels or the gun. So what do I have here ? I snapped a few camera pics.

Any gun related items on the Phoenix Craigslist site get taken down almost immediately. I tried to sell a reloader and finally gave up. It was flagged down after just minutes.

Some internet research says this was built between 1912 - 1932. Looks like she should shoot low brass shells OK if I were to use it. For whatever reason she talked to me and said take me home !

David will know what it is. Looks like a decent old SXS though.
