Simple joy of getting a new Dog...
What a special gift for us to bring home on my birthday.
Let me introduce Queen Elizabeth II the Second. 7 year old Female of Pit and Yellow Lab mix. Think Miss Doubtfire. Adopted her from a rescue shelter. My Llamas Approve. I could learn much from a chillin' "just rub my tummy" lifestyle. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1436811562.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1436811592.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1436811662.jpg There is just something about getting a new dog at home, it's been a three year absence for us...... |
Congrats! Beautiful. HAPPY dog! Getting lot of attention.
A house just doesn't feel like a home without a dog. |
Wonderful rescue! Looks like a great dog. Congrats and thank you :D
|
I've seen my dog (and others) eat other dogs' poop several times. I don't let them lick my face anymore, but that's just me.. Congrats !! ;-)
|
Congratulations and bless you. Pits and Pit mixes are hard to place, and far, far too numerous. The Queen is a lucky, happy dog.
|
Just saw your post, Rusty......CONGRATS and thank YOU for saving this little girl's life!
This pic says it all...... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1436811592.jpg |
Good for you!
My son's Olde English takes the same kind of pose without asking. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1436823694.jpg |
Congrats on your new addition to the pack Rusty, she's found a great home! Dang....them llama dawgs sure are big :p
|
sincere congrats...you have done great work in making this pup part of the family!!!
|
Awesome!!
|
Queen chunker needs a diet, got her on a scale today, 73 pounds. 60-65 is a good target.
Our last Pit was special. RIP Rupert 3 years ago. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1436833358.jpg His Lean waist with thick chest, the new Queen is going to have to start to "play ball" literally. Elizabeth is much more Lab, than Pit.........she's a blob o' dog. Better start playing some Jane Fonda fitness tapes with her high cut nylon leggings.......Fonda was yummy. |
Great rescue. Good luck.
|
That is just great! Congrats. Very cool that the Llamas approve. What are they like?
|
Pits and Pit mixes are great dogs!
My little demon is half Am. Staffy and half Chesapeake bay retriever. It gets interesting at times. http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w...psjh0yx1w2.jpg |
What a cutie!
Do you call her, "Your Majesty"? |
Why is it that most of the dogs in the shelters nowadays are pit mixes ? Are there that many breeders out there keeping thier puppy mills going for what the public wants, or are pit bulls just more successful in thier chance breeding encounters with other dogs ?
I applaud you for rescuing this dog, and hopefully give it a good home. My daughter tried to do the same thing with a pit/black lab mix that we all liked (she lives alone with a somewhat thin/small autrailian cattle dog). The dog was nice but would attack her other dog, and both of our dogs (65 lb aussie, and 15 lb pom) so she had to re-home it to someone with no other dogs around. |

Dude that's a pretty hard post you had, I edited out all your biased dribble. If you're going to be a turd, go out and lay in the lawn. don't blame the dog for the environment it was brought up in. Mine was actually the end result of a divorce of the owners and neither picked it up at the kennel after fighting over the dog, so whose fault is that? not all dogs or owners are meth head trailer park trash. you turd SmileWavy |
^^ We adopted a Jack Russel that came to our door one night .. We're pretty sure he escaped from a dumpster too, as he was terrified of any trash can.
Good rescue, Rusty. Queen will be a devoted companion for life .. |
Heap, I reported you for name calling. Too bad poor reading comprehension isn't against the rules here.
I said NOTHING about the dogs. My entire post was about the behavior of some owners and an answer to the question of why so many PBs and PB mixes are in rescue. |
Turd is a name?
what about 'Tard? I always like the names Sandy Hills or Dusty Roads............or Rusty Heap for that matter........ |
Good job on the rescue Rusty, and congratulations. We rescued our Staffordshire Terrier Olive from the Humane Society too.704602

He said, "I shot her and threw her in a dumpster." I was speechless and thought and thought and stewed and stewed all morning. Finally at 10:30 I went to my truck/check book...walked back over to him, handed him a check for hours worked and said, "Catch a bus!" |

Time to swing the post back to the Positive.

thanks for my high school year memories in flashback..............:D |
Go vegan on the food until target weight is attained, then mix it up with dry lamb and beef.......
Green peepers, apples, pears, oranges, potatoes.....and then run the hell out them... |
I just got a notice about my twin 10 pound juggernauts. The 250 pound mailman is afraid that they will bust a brand new security door down and jump up and bite his knees. I either have to close my front door 24/7 or move the mail box to the street......he cc'd the City animal enforcement as well.......there goes his Christmas bonus. *******.
 |

When I was 8 the cocker spaniel that had been in my life for as long as my 8 year old brain could remember disappeared. Mom and dad were circumspect about the circumstances of her disappearance. To this day I don't know what happened to her but I know she was old. We lived on a 250 acre farm and it wasn't unusual for her to be out in the fields, but I suspect Dad had a hand in her disappearance.

This is Florida, my DIL's latest Pit Bull rescue. Florida is a PB/Basset hound mix. She is 3ish and has heartworms, but otherwise healthy. Her owners were going to put her down because of the cost of heartworm treatments. The vet call DIL's organization all the way from Florida and told them about her. Someone went clear down there to save her. Now she is being fostered by DIL while she finishes treatment for the heartworms, then she'll be ready for adoption. She is a real sweetheart, and she can wash your whole face with one lick of that tongue.

update.
we took all 73 pounds of "Lizzy" to a street fair with hundreds of people and other dogs...........rub my tummy love for everyone. Ms Doubtfire courteous all the way. melted blob afterwards. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1437413115.jpg |
After the last $10 squeaky toy died in about 5 bites, I figured $2 a bite was excessive.
so might as well step up and feed her $30 R/C monster trucks instead. We got Lizzy 9 weeks ago from a shelter and she was 72-73 pounds...........we've entertained her with toys and travel and now is only 64 curb weight wet. Lizzy continues to get Dizzy. These are kick butt $30 monster 2WD trucks, stout ball bearings, a-arms, coil over shocks, and metal gear diff tranny. $50 with shipping. On sale the next 6 days. a step up from radio shack Toy Grade, but still cheap enough to be disposable. 9115 Same Version GPTOYS S911 1 / 12 Scale 2WD 2.4G 4 Channel RC Car Supersonic Explorer Monster Truck Toy RC Racing Truggy Toy - EU Plug-29.89 | GearBest.com .........and they're WAY more fun and lasts longer than a squeaky toy........tho' she's now ate a tie-rod or two. and you need to CA glue the rubber to the rims so she doesn't rip them off. so as I tell her, DON'T EAT THE TRUCK!!! http://vimeo.com/140241190 |
