We picked this up for the Mrs to use as her new LED dive light. Kinda the best of both worlds. Has both narrow and wide beam. Rechargeable and waterproof. In her words, “it’s grippy so I like it.” Paid $125 via a dive shop but saw it on Amazon for $89.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...8a6d0959db.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...3070693295.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...f4673c80b0.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...b8f0a04bf1.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...fbc8c02275.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...0b04f5cbc6.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...744926ce1b.jpg It slides fore and aft allowing you to choose where you want to place the beam. Great light for spelunking in a lava tube. There are time you want a wide beam and a narrow.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...feb1b8f8de.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...077d5b66bf.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...e50090363a.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

the 18v tool battery lites use a standard bulb socket pr2 but do not last long burn out in an hour or less 4d cells is only 1.5x4 = 6 volts even tryed the 12v version [claimed] they do not live at 18v even the specialty only lite bulb store has no 18v rated led bulbs locally |
Reviving this old thread because a knife thread, a spoon thread, and a flashlight thread must come up every 6 months.
My old SureFire 6P (incandescent) bulb finally gave up. So without checking with any PPOT folks here, I went with one of the top results from a basic Google search: Malkoff M61, which converts it to an LED. We'll see how it goes. |
I'm surprised this thread has been so quiet for so long. Seems like it used to come up more often.

Yes, but you can never have too many flashlights. :) You need a flashlight to change the batteries on the dead flashlight.
In testing whether it was the bulb or the battery I switched the batteries with my 6P LED, and my Fury. To look for the Fury, I used my Fenix with the 18650. I did notice that the 18650 will of course eventually drain even while in storage. So having CR123 torches somewhere is not a bad thing. |

I have a built in USB charging, I believe they are still 18650? No issue with it so far. When I remember, I stick the cable on my way home during traffic jam until it is full. Love it |
I picked up a Kolbalt rechargeable LED, figured $25, it would be a good idea to have another light as Milton was on the way.

My brother gave me his work light. He’s used it hard. It’s the best light I own. I use it for jogging at dark mornings and it will light up the neighborhood. I shined it at a herd of deer and almost shocked myself at how it lit everything up. I hoped I didn’t wake up the house I illuminated.
The torch lives an easier existence now. It has a rechargeable battery. You just plug in a usb cord directly to the cell. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1728662696.jpg |
For $30, this HF is a very good shop light.

Here are a few of mine
The Olight Arkfeld Pro (with the dragon) is my favorite. The lazer and UV functions are excellent. Highly recommended that everyone own one of these. Yea you cant replace the battery but nothing is perfect. Olight Seeker 4 is next fave. I absolutely hate Streamlight due to the confusing user interface and stiff feel of the buttons. I wont buy any more from this brand as my brain can not memorize the sequences for programming Fenix is nice but the fact that it can not tail stand because of the big rubber button is a huge negative against it. It gains points for simplicity. I have many other 'torches' . Olight has proven itself to me to be the easiest to use and have the best recharging system. I tend not to buy gear I depend on that is made in China. Olight is an exception. Love the company. Impressed by the factory and excellent quality. I go out of my way to support them as a company because I have been very impressed. I also have all their key chain size lights hanging off various zippers, key rings etc...around. Love those too. Love how the magnetic ends of the Olights allow me to stick the light to anything metal to use as a lantern. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1728833418.jpg |
If storing a flashlight in a car what is the secret if there is one to keep the batteries from leaking ? For me that has been an issue . I even put a thin coat of dielectric grease on the ends .
Cheap batteries expensive batteries it doesn't seem to matter . Is it just check/replace every 6 months ? Do rechargeable NIMH batteries leak less ? |

The cheap Chinese place, I can only assume is home of lots of counterfeits and stolen IP, as well as location of lots of crap parts for various European imports. Probably not a bad idea to have it blocked. |

They go on sale a bunch of times per year. I pick things up then. I also have one of the pens that was also a free gift (don't remember how/why) that has pen, light, and laser all in one. I probably wouldn't ever pay $60-70 for a pen, but this is a very cool pen. The magnetic charging is awesome, so much better than having to remove a battery or open a fiddly door to plug in a cable. The quality of Olight seems top notch. They are a huge step (order of magnitude) above most of the other Chinese made stuff. I haven't had to use it, but their cust service is supposed to be top notch. I still have my old Zebralight and Thrunite headlight and flashlight, but they don't get as much use as they used to. |

Surefire. what great lights.
I feel they kinda priced themselves out of the fight. |

The Fenix I have is great…just don’t like that big rubber button at the tail end. In reality, I use my headlamps the most. Unfortunately, even with the high end models I buy, I can’t get more than 2 years out of them before the are dead or fall apart |
The Seeker 4 Mini is great. The UV seems better on the Arfeld Pro in my opinion. The lazer on the Arfeld is nuts. If someone is a contractor or building inspector etc I imagine it would be very useful to point out something way high up on a ceiling etc….very powerful. I took a gamble on it and ended up really loving it so I got my dad one and he loves it too. Fits in pocket very well too. I expected to not like it but it has needed up being my favorite flashlight so far. If you’re not into them, check out the Seeker 4 Mini. No lazer though. Otherwise it’s a small almost perfect light ….hard to beat for $55. On sale now. https://www.olightstore.com/seeker-4-mini-white-and-uv-led-flashlight

I have a nitecore TN12 or similar in every one of car. Just big enough so I can hang on to it but skinny enough to not get in the way. I think they are just under an inch in dia. Personally, I like simple flash lights. A single tail switch with three modes. Low, med, high and no strobe light and I hate cycling through the strobe mode. Ability to do a tail stand is a must. If you ever need custom lights made, I know a guy in Seattle that will make flash lights to your specs or his. I had him make a couple floody lights for me using the typical 1" EDC casing using 18650. Sometimes, I am not concern with throw but real working light that doesn't blind the user. For head lamps, have you try Zebra light. I like their 18650 with floody lens. Great light. I am sure there are better lights out there now, but those headlights are used often and they don't die. Mine has been all over the world. |
Damn you Ramonesfreak. Why did you have to post a link to that flat O-light. I just lost 100 on Amazon. I like the laser pointer feature and the UV light all in one.
|
Flashlights are one thing, and the batteries for them are another.
My Surefire 18650 were OK, then one crapped out. I replaced them with Panasonic ones. They seem to last 3 or 4 times longer before recharging. |

I got this off of Amazon for $35. Puts out a reported 1 million lumens. Not sure if that’s true, but trying to look into it is like trying to look into an aircraft landing light. Plus, it’s got a work light built into the side that will light up an entire room or work area. On top of that it even comes with a little tripod. Finally, it is USB rechargeable and you can charge your phone or any other device off a USB output. And each one of the two lights has three brightness settings.

They have the "Arkfeld" which is flashlight, UV, and laser all in one. The have the "Arkflex" which has a head that will swivel to 90º, but is only a flashlight (no UV or Laser). https://www.olightstore.com/arkflex-adjustable-right-angle-flashlight https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/...,350_QL80_.jpg |

I don't know if they are fakes, but I buy from these guys https://megabatteries.com/3-7-volt-panasonic-18650-lithium-ion-battery-3400-mah/?gad_source=1 My old eyes like the Zebra 18650 floody head lamps. I don't even use the Zebra AA anymore. The over the head strap makes is very comfortable to use. |
