We picked this up for the Mrs to use as her new LED dive light. Kinda the best of both worlds. Has both narrow and wide beam. Rechargeable and waterproof. those fit
the 18v tool battery lites use a standard bulb socket pr2

but do not last long
burn out in an hour or less
4d cells is only 1.5x4 = 6 volts

even tryed the 12v version [claimed]
they do not live at 18v

even the specialty only lite bulb store has no 18v rated led bulbs locally

Reviving this old thread because a knife thread, a spoon thread, and a flashlight thread must come up every 6 months.

My old SureFire 6P (incandescent) bulb finally gave up. So without checking with any PPOT folks here, I went with one of the top results from a basic Google search: Malkoff M61, which converts it to an LED.

We'll see how it goes.

I'm surprised this thread has been so quiet for so long. Seems like it used to come up more often.

Malkoff is a pig farmer and was tired of not being able to see is what I heard. He makes a quality product. During those early days of LED retrofit, I bought a couple of his modules for my Surefires. Now they have been lost at my construction job site and there's no looking back once I bought modern LED pocket size flash lights. 18650 rechargeable battery is what you should look for. I have no idea what the Malkoff cost but at one time, for about the same price, you can have a Fenix or something similar that will blow the doors off the Malkoff replacement LED modules.

Yes, but you can never have too many flashlights. :) You need a flashlight to change the batteries on the dead flashlight.

In testing whether it was the bulb or the battery I switched the batteries with my 6P LED, and my Fury. To look for the Fury, I used my Fenix with the 18650. I did notice that the 18650 will of course eventually drain even while in storage. So having CR123 torches somewhere is not a bad thing.

I always have two 18650 batteries charged up for those dark days. I have never had any of my 18650 completely drain by sitting. Now, I have one at my mother's place and that will go flat between a year or two.

I have a built in USB charging, I believe they are still 18650? No issue with it so far. When I remember, I stick the cable on my way home during traffic jam until it is full. Love it

I picked up a Kolbalt rechargeable LED, figured $25, it would be a good idea to have another light as Milton was on the way.

My brother gave me his work light. He’s used it hard. It’s the best light I own. I use it for jogging at dark mornings and it will light up the neighborhood. I shined it at a herd of deer and almost shocked myself at how it lit everything up. I hoped I didn’t wake up the house I illuminated.
The torch lives an easier existence now.
It has a rechargeable battery. You just plug in a usb cord directly to the cell.

Here are a few of mine
The Olight Arkfeld Pro (with the dragon) is my favorite. The lazer and UV functions are excellent. Highly recommended that everyone own one of these. Yea you cant replace the battery but nothing is perfect. Olight Seeker 4 is next fave.

I absolutely hate Streamlight due to the confusing user interface and stiff feel of the buttons. I wont buy any more from this brand as my brain can not memorize the sequences for programming

Fenix is nice but the fact that it can not tail stand because of the big rubber button is a huge negative against it. It gains points for simplicity.

I have many other 'torches' . Olight has proven itself to me to be the easiest to use and have the best recharging system. I tend not to buy gear I depend on that is made in China. Olight is an exception. Love the company. Impressed by the factory and excellent quality. I go out of my way to support them as a company because I have been very impressed. I also have all their key chain size lights hanging off various zippers, key rings etc...around. Love those too.

Love how the magnetic ends of the Olights allow me to stick the light to anything metal to use as a lantern.

If storing a flashlight in a car what is the secret if there is one to keep the batteries from leaking ? For me that has been an issue . I even put a thin coat of dielectric grease on the ends .

Cheap batteries expensive batteries it doesn't seem to matter . Is it just check/replace every 6 months ? Do rechargeable NIMH batteries leak less ?

Get one of those Fenix or Olight with a rechargeable battery. They don't normally leak and the charge last a long time if not used regularly. You pay a few bucks more for it but buying typical batteries isn't cheap neither, and you have ruined flash light.

O-lights are great but there are other Chinese companies that are just as good such as Fenix, Nitecore, or Thrunite. I have never had one fail on me yet and have use their products for years now. The Chinese product you are talking about are some of the junk sold on ****, e bay or harbor freight for 8 bucks with 2500 lumens.

The cheap Chinese place, I can only assume is home of lots of counterfeits and stolen IP, as well as location of lots of crap parts for various European imports. Probably not a bad idea to have it blocked.

I've got half a dozen of the little i3E EOS from Olight that were free gifts with various purchases or during sales. I've also got a Perun II headlight, and a Warrior 3S. I'd like one of the models that have the UV, but it's not a must have. I'd also like to have one of the smaller (in between the Warrior 3 and i3E. I think there's a Seeker model that's got UV (or is it the Baton). I'd probably get that one. The Arkfeld just doesn't do it for me.

They go on sale a bunch of times per year. I pick things up then. I also have one of the pens that was also a free gift (don't remember how/why) that has pen, light, and laser all in one. I probably wouldn't ever pay $60-70 for a pen, but this is a very cool pen.

The magnetic charging is awesome, so much better than having to remove a battery or open a fiddly door to plug in a cable.

The quality of Olight seems top notch. They are a huge step (order of magnitude) above most of the other Chinese made stuff. I haven't had to use it, but their cust service is supposed to be top notch.

I still have my old Zebralight and Thrunite headlight and flashlight, but they don't get as much use as they used to.
