Need to get a cane made for my little brother

My little brother was in a motorcycle vs car nearly head on accident late last week.

Left leg took the brunt of the damage and is mostly crushed and filled with titanium. Doesn't look like he will lose it but he's probably not going to have full mobility. He's looking at canes while sitting in the hospital bed waiting for his next surgery tomorrow...

I have a skull I made in high school metal shop which he stole from me a long time ago. I kept trying to steal it back but eventually he GAVE it back to me for the win.

Now I want to put it on top of a cane for him.

I've got a buddy who is great at wood working but doesn't have a lathe.

Here is the skull - looking for ideas. I'm thinking something dark and gothic as that's what he's into. It needs to be a real cane that can actually support him if need be. I also thought about having something made out of titanium like his leg is now but that might be pricey...

Anyway - here are a few pictures of the skull.

Drill and tap a thread in the skull

Buy some hardwood dowelling around 3/4. Rockier has this in walnut at 36" for $8. Drill a hole for a stud that fits the skull. Cut to length. Epoxy stud to dowel. Sand taper into other end. Fit cane end on it. Screw skull onto stud. Use lock tight so it stays put. Sand dowel. Put stain if desired. Finish with gun stock oil. Total cost will be under $35 and it will be meaningful.

What kind of metal is that, Aluminum? It doesn't look very strong.

If you can have a cane carved, maybe you can design a claw hand that is holding the skull?

I turn a walking stick if you'd like.
