DOOM theft; did it ever turn up?
I'm moving and going thru old stuff and came upon an EXCELLENCE article from June 1998 that I cut out and saved for some reason. DOOM was racecar built by Norwood Autocraft that was more like a cross between an Indycar and a funny car powered by a 968 turbo cranking out 710HP.
It was stolen from the shop along with the truck an trailer. Truck/trailer turned up but not the car. My question is; does anyone know if this car ever turned up anywhere? |
I asked the owner of San Diego's Black Forest that about 8 months ago when we were BSing about the "old days" and he said no it never had. There were some other funny things such as the drug smuggler/race car drivers who mysteriously had all their sentences dropped out, some other famous race cars that had dissappeared, etc, etc, etc. At least I know where my 914-6 went........a museum in Puerto Rico!

Dooms disappearance generated more rumors and innuendo then Bill Cosby's love life
I don't think it ever reappeared |
That car was to unique to ever be seen as it was...
The powertrain was removed along with other tasty bits...and morphed into another hotrod 944/968... The chassis is sitting in a barn or garage waiting for someone to find it in a few years.. |
I've often wondered what happened to it. Kickass car. The Norwood stuff in general is awesome and gives a lot of inspiration to us aspiring tuner types. Sad that it got hoisted.
