Had girl friend for the last 5 years, wife has known all along and still wants to keep me around,need to figure out what I was thinking.

I do not have a girlfriend. But I have been married a long time, and I can certainly say that a marriage that lasts will not (at least all the time) be based on passion. If you are keeping up on you duties as a husband, perhaps your wife is willing to forgive your infidelity.

Or perhaps, she has a special friend.......

We need a little more information here. You still have the GF? How did your wife know all along? And why would you want to stay married if you have a GF?

Follow the money.

So the question becomes WHY has the wife stuck around, and why does she want to keep you?

Then you comment indicates that you are wondering why did U ever want to fk (possibly with someone who is not as grounded as your wife) around when somebody was at home that was true blue.

Does this get to the heart of the matter clearly & succinctly based upon the limited info presented. U see all the other Boyz two cents aren't even worth 2 cents..because they don't get to the bottom of the issue but rather flop around like fish out of water. This ability is what separates the ordinary from the extraordinary, and it is a rare ability indeed.

This really isn't a question about fidelity, as much as it is about your motivation, and compulsion.

That is deep and uncharted territory.

And what keeps you from falling back into the trap of cheating after a few years with your "keeper wife", when that old familiarity comes back. She shouldn't give you a second chance, because she will always be wondering where you are, and who are you with.
