Faith in humanity/Good Karma thread.
Tonight I'd like to give a big shout out for the good folks of Washington DC who pretty much saved my family from itself!
![]() We started the weekend off as a simple trip to take our three year old daughter to the zoo. It involved her first train trip, a short metro ride, a zoo, and a return trip home. How it all went down: The daughter (and wife) were reasonably packed. My wife had a rolling suitcase, my daughter had a miniature suitcase and a mini backpack (and Winnie the pooh stuffed bear) ![]() I carried a small shoulder bicycle carrier bag and a small stoller. By all accounts- this SEEMED reasonable.... Then reality struck. The train was delayed for 4 hours. When it finally came, my daughter was terrified- Leaving my wife carrying my daughter, and my "gimper" self carrying ALL the carry-ons. This is how it went down: Person 1- Helped get the stuff up the stairs onto the train Person 2- Helped carry my wife's suitcase to our seats Person 3- Prevented disaster on the DC metro escalator stairs when my daughter got onto it and was being wisked down while my wife was stuck between her and her jammed suitcase at the top of the escalator Person 4- Stabilized my standing wife (holding daughter- standing room only) on metro as it slammed into high gear on a crazy and crowded Friday night (at midnight btw... because of the train delay) Person 5- Gave my wife advice to hold onto daughter tight when we were to get of at a very crowded pavilion station where a concert was getting out Person 6- Gave up seat on metro for my wife and daughter Person 7-Gave up seat on metro for my wife and daughter Person 8-Gave up seat on metro for my wife and daughter Person 9- Helped pick up luggage when it fell off stroller in street ...you get the picture. We were a true to life Clark Griswold family, and instead of robbing us blind, the world helped out. Later in the weekend we were able to help out in small ways. I helped two people load luggage on the return trip and we gave our metro cards to some random people, but it was nothing in comparison to how many people helped us! Thanks universe! There is more good done each day than bad. By a massive margin.

This pic is a pair of brothers from my son's ranger school graduation. The older one in the wheelchair has MD. He's in his early 20's, attending college and living the fullest life he can. The younger one graduated with my son. The family was amazing to watch together. So much love and respect between these two.
Attending a graduation like this is inspirational! Especially when you meet such fine young men and their parents. ![]()
