Any experience with Zurich Vehicle Service Contracts?

I recently purchased a used truck and have been offered a vehicle service contract for what seems a reasonable amount. The basic warranty would cover most major repairs to the engine/driveline for 4 years / 48000 miles. I expect to average ~8000 miles/yr.

Online reviews are fairly mixed. It seems to me that most that complain didn't understand the extent of their coverage.

Does anybody have any experience with extended vehicle service contracts such as this? Any experience with Zurich specifically?

Thanks for the help.

Actually yes. I have a DEEP hatred for most of the aftermarket warranty companies.
I just did a job for a customer who had Zurich last week, and by far , was one of the best I have dealt with so far.
There are some really terrible warranty companies out there.. I will accept any of them, but I always tell my customers, that I am not a lawyer, and I am not going to battle with your crappy aftermarket warranty company.
I tell them what I see, and they either approve it , or they don't.
I could tell you some stories. Some of them have a way out of every single little claim .

No CNA, is not ringing any bells. Seems like there are a lot more of them around now, than say 5-7 years ago. Hard to keep up.

My only experience was taking a friend to pick up his Passat. I don't know what brand of insurance he had. The water pump needed to be replaced and "water pump" was specifically listed in the contract. So they paid for the water pump and labor. But not shop supplies, anti freeze, the gasket, or a water pump bolt that broke (or something). I thought it was pretty tacky of them.

IMHO this is where you should self insure. Drivelines don't blow up any more these days and the rest is not that expensive to fix, especially if you can do some of it yourself.

That said - Zurich is a very large company and unlike others at least will not be bankrupt when you file a claim.

Yes, I have Zurich on a 2012 VW and just had a major top end repaired done at he dealer. They had all the interaction with Zurich who covered everything no questions. The dealer said they have a good relationship with them.

I am money ahead at this point.

Sorry - Forgot to follow up on this one.

The truck in question is a 2007 Dodge with the Hemi motor. I decided to "self insure" once I dug into the warranty and what it covered exactly. The truck was well maintained by the prior owners and I think possibility of catastrophic failure is low. Opinions from other "locals" on Zurich is mixed-to-positive; probably a decent company to do business with.
