Pelicans near SALEM, OR redux. Favor $$$
Hello,
I know I mentioned this a while back and Mr. Nostril Cheese expressed some interest. First, rather than taking him up on his kind offer I'd like to see if there are any Pelicans closer to Salem Oregon to help me with a favor. It involves going to my Aunt's house and retrieving a family heirloom piece of furniture (an Eames Lounger), doing a very simple partial disassembly and shipping to me. You could even just take the individual pieces to a FedEx Kinkos and they will pack it if you like. Less hassle for you! I'd be happy to pay you for your time and gas and I'll get you some beers and etc. etc. next time I'm out there! Thanks |
PMd you.

I like Mr Cheese. I'm pretty sure he won't take your chair past redline.

Oh I see how it is. That's species-ist!

My aunt is above ground, no worries! But thanks . . . . . in advance? Wait, that's weird.
Anyway, this was my grandfather's chair and it's broken in the same way that many of these chairs break; it's a reasonably easy fix. It's special to my mom and my aunt has just had it in a shed 'out back' for years and years and she's not capable or ready to repair it, and I love that kind of stuff so I'm in! Plus it's late '60s rosewood with goose feather upholstery. The holy grail of Eames Loungers. :D |
Thanks!
Yes you got it, the rubber shock mounts have gone south. From what I can tell the wood around the mounts didn't suffer a whole lot, and my main dilemma will be deciding if I want to refinish the wood or not. I'm really impressed with all the stuff there is on the internet about it. I think I might just send the base of the chair out for a first-class fix of the mounts and start there. I'm sure I can get the cushions worked on here. |
Does anyone have any recommendations for a "full-service" moving Co that could do something this small?
thanks |
I'm pretty sure this, taken somewhat apart, will ship UPS/FEDEX. Another good alternative is Greyhound. You can ship it truck freight, but it's just not that big.
If you would like, I will go get it, dismantle, and ship it. I've shipped plenty of odd/large/heavy/fragile things. Won't mess it up. Hated missing BHT&M at Britt last weekend... We were both just too whipped to go. angela |
I can only say which companies to NOT use. I think the key will be in packaging.
I was or am LESS AR about a teak coffee table set that I have from Denmark. The pieces have the crafter's guild tags on them. Beautiful. Until my friend's German Shephard puppy literally chewed them up. I had dreams of taking my .45 and blowing that dog's brains out over the back yard grass. I left them unrestored to remind myself that life is not perfect. |
