so who has down loaded Windows 10 ?
My Windows 7 laptop is running fine but I see the Windows 10 " upgrade " icon down on the tool bar just begging me to download. So for those of you that have down loaded and used it for a few weeks is it any good ?

i got it last night and so far it's ok.

I installed it yesterday morning. It was effortless and is working smooth.
I just started trying Edge, it appears to be pretty snappy. I still have 2 more computers to go. |
I have it on 2 laptops, 2 desktops, and a tablet so far.
Will use for a week or two then start slowly rolling out at the office. I don't see it as that big of a change, but I never really hated on 8 like some people did. There are few little tiny things that for me are huge annoyances: Focus isn't always set correctly, for instance, launching the calculator lets me type sometimes, others not until I click on it. This also happens at random when opening new tabs in Edge. Edge is a modern app, so I'm not able to right click and launch more instances of it like I do with everything else, I have to use tabs then break them off, extra step. Some of the flat UI that got bigger on the PCs actually got smaller and more finicky to hit on the tablet. The Start menu also was better in 8.1 on the tablet. I know the charms bar didn't catch on, but I thought it was okay, and the new notification center is pretty cluttered in comparison. |
Oh, another thing that very few people will run into. I did one upgrade remotely and had to have someone walk over and click OK a couple times in the upgrade process to make it complete.
The server upgrades fixed that a while back, so I figured I'd chance it. |

Waiting...read a number of reports that it is bug-ridden

If its anything like Windows 8, forget about it.

Apparently has tried and failed 4 times.

I'm going to do my daughters laptop because it has win8. I can use win8 with shell but I never liked it.
My machine has win7 and I'm most definitely going to wait and see before I give it up. |
I've been using for a few days. I like that the slide bar on the right for windows 8 is gone in 10. When you click the windows in the lower left you now get your old "start menu" plus you get the live tiles from 8. The only complaints I have are when I installed 10 it removed my virus protection program, it seemed to cause a little trouble with my older version of outlook but that has since been cleared up too and it seems to boot up a little slower than 8. I think it gives more of a 7 look with a good blend of 8 features.

Was gonna wait a few month to do 10. I have 4 laptops and 2 desktops, 4 of the 6 have Win7, which I love. You guys got me curious, so I did Win 10 on the laptop I use the least. So far, I like it. I'm sure it has many features I've yet to explore. |
I figured out why the download isn't working. I have a "Windows 8" laptop that was "downgraded" to Win 7 Pro. The key on it is genuine but not unique. I need to find the Windows 8 key that came with my computer to load it.

Glad I didn't jump. |

- Microsoft ~~~~~~~~ I guess the folks at Microsoft are good with ending a sentence with a preposition. Gov't schooled, no doubt. |
I wonder how much MS pays the person that figured the battery Icon needed to be rotated 90 degrees??? ***** Brilliant**********
|
Already on all of my machines at home and at work and working great.
I do have an older laptop running a specific network adapter that is incompatible with 10, so that one will have to wait. |
Except for Windows 95 I have never been an early adopter of a new version on Windows.
I will wait until service pack 1 comes out or that I hear everyone is loving Win10. One question, I had heard one report that Win 10 was going to the subscription thing and users would have to pay a yearly subscription to use it like Office 365. Is that true or is Windows 10 something we can keep with no subscription? |
