I was there last week, Pelican is not really a destination unless you need parts. It got me back on the road in time for a PCA event but I wish I was 6 hours north at the tech tactics meet.
If you are near there you are close to GMG Global Motorsport Group (It's across the street in Costa Mesa from Porsche Motorsports), now THAT is a place to go. They have a couple simulators, and view of their street tuning side from the gift shop area where they customize street Porsche, Ferrari and Lamborghini (and other european) which was fantastic. If you are lucky you can get a tour of the facility including the full race side and the dyno room. On that side I saw a brand new Lamborghini getting the treatment as well as other cars in for prep. Great staff there especially thanks to Scott Centra for the full tour. That whole area south of LA is a huge tuning/restoration area. BBi Autosport is on my list next time I am out there. Check this thread as well for places near Pelican HQ: Porsche Specialists in California |
