Earlier this year we were in Ireland for my daughter's wedding. A couple of days after the wedding I got sick and ended up in emerge of a local hospital. Well treated, tests, xrays and after 6 hours I was done. Total including ambulance ride from the hotel was $140 euros or about $200.

Very fortunate,
Guy

A wonderful country and an example of what a 21st century modern progressive country should be.

Those scandinavian countries are great until you see their tax bills!

28% income tax, 23% sales tax and terrible tax on new cars.

It is not really that bad when you see what the system pays for.

A few years ago I was diagnosed with CFS and was only working 50% of normal hours. My employer paid half, and the government paid the rest.

In 2011, I had a skiing jumping accident. One of my skies fell of at the ramp whilst doing 50-ish mph and at one point flying around 10 feet off the ground. Landed head first and was knocking out. Had a "black eye" over My whole face. Ambulance came to take me to hospital for some intensive care and stayed there a few days. No Bill!

Now my daughter is 2 and goes to kindergarten. Total cost per month less than 500$, schools are free the first 12-13 years.

It is a great system!

The worst? Any poorer Asian country like Malaysia, Thailand Or Cambodia. Interestingly Vietnam is better than you may think.

Pakistan or India? I'd choose India every time but even there it's nowhere near Western Standards except for the private clinics for their rich >>> They are truly luxurious and absolutely spotless.

The best? Australia by far. Even better than Canada IMO. (I used to be an RN)
