27 or 87 which would YOU choose?
From a FB friend:
If you could, which would you choose? Live to 87 with an OK life, same basic job and friends, not much excitement. Live to 27 but with excitement, adventure, and "anything goes" attitude. ME>27 |

You didn't define family.
With wife and kids - 87 If I would have no family - 27 I want to see my kids grow up, and meet my grandchildren. |
I think they call that Darwinism....
Bad choices that lead to your own demise. |
With the limited info, I'm going with 27.
But, life can be rich and fulfilling without being James Dean or Jimi Hendrix. I guess the reason that I chose 27 was being it said "OK life". I may not be a millionaire playboy, but I think my life is much, much better than just "OK". |
27.....seriously?
I'll shoot for 87. 27 was 35 years ago. A lot of boring stuff has happened since I turned 27.:D |

Flawed survey.
A 27 year old hasn't lived long enough to carry my water. |
Both

I was convinced I would not make 25 so acted accordingly.
I'm 51 now and my body feels like it's 87. Had I known I'd make it this long I would have definitely taken better care of myself. |
105 with excitement, adventure, and "anything goes" attitude My dad is 87 with several Girl friends ...The youngest is 63

I am way closer to 87 than 27. I have no regrets. No way I want a life like some charterers in the movies of wild exploits and only live for 27 short years. I have lived over twice that long and life is too short already. I have good health and a very comfortable life. I want another 87 years of comfort.

Give me 87 years with my honey, bar none.
|
If I live to be 87, I see my grandchildren become men and women, at 27, I never see my kids grow up.
Are you kidding me with this? |
I did the excitement route right up until I went to graduate school. At age 27.
Then I settled down and am doing the "not much excitement" lifestyle. Just a wife and kids with a tolerable job. Guess what? Life after 27 has been far better than the life before. I plan on going skiing on my 87 birthday. And my 90th, etc. If those here who picked 27 really believe that, it's not too late. Go buy some blow, some hookers, and a wing suit and have at it. |
87...because you don't know sh$t at 27.
|
87 At different stages of your life you value things differently. At 87 you can have huge pleasure having a coffee at your favorite cafe with your favorite people. Almost the same level of happiness that you would get in your 20's from scoring a drunk Swedish girl at a naked beach party.
|
To live to be 87 and have a full life of family and friends and laughter sounds good to me. Living a self indulgent, existence to only 27 sounds like a tragedy.

I've never been a big thrill seeker, but there were things I did which weren't in my best interests.
Interesting the choice of the age 27. My son was born when I was 27. It was three years later (better late than never) when something clicked inside my head which caused me to back off the throttle, sit up and slow down a bit. (Literally: I was on a bike with the throttle twisted hard against the stop at the time.) I have had greater pleasures since I turned fifty. I work (if you can call it that) talking to thousands of folks every year, I write and perform my own songs. One song I wrote for my grand daughter and sang it to her when she was two hours old. Life began for me after 27. Best Les |

Only an idiot at 19 years old may ask this question. I guess 27 is the most common rock star early demise. I had a pretty good run up to 27 and a lot more fun after. Not sure if a jet set lifestyle would have been that much better? I certainly had no trouble partying on a budget. It doesn't feel like I am doing enough in the present, but looking back, even short term, I get to do and experience a lot more than the average Joe. Definitely 87 + for me.

Stupid question. 87 for sure.
|
87 without hesitation. I lived a ful tilt boogie life until I married at 29 ( well as full tilt boogie as a lower middle class guy could) and now at 63 life is very quiet but very good. Dying at 27 leaves a lot of good stuff out.
|
87. Live long and prosper (even with an "okay" life)
|
When I was 18 I would have voted for 87... at 58 I would vote for 27...
