ATF officially involved in the private transfers of firearms
If we're willing to assume they weren't already.
I haven't had a FFL for about a year but I still have an interest how my federal friends are doing things. For the last 20 years or so, before transferring a firearm the license holder contacts the NICS center for approval (generally CC holders forgo that step). During the call the operator will ask "type of transaction?". The dealer will say "sale of (handgun, long gun, or other)". Starting this month they will want to know if it is a "private sale", to differentiate from something out of the dealer's inventory. I'm assuming the internet gun auctions transfers will now need that response. private:confined to or intended only for the persons immediately concerned; confidential Jim

Fortunately, we don't have to involve FFLs at all for private party deals in AZ between two AZ residents.
