Shopping Carts

S0.... twice in 3 weeks have come out of a store to find a shopping cart slammed against my (nice shiny red but older) sports car. Scrapes and some paint loss, not as bad as it could have been.

How common is it to get targeted by a shopping cart?

Ever catch someone intentionally sending one into a parked car?

...I'd rant more, but it'll just make me more pissed off

I park way the hell out in the North Forty and walk to the store door.

Encinitas? Good golly sir you live in Nirvana! Accept the dings in your car and go down to the beach... if applicable go to one of the bars on the beach and have a cold one!

I park out away from as many idiots as possible. I also will bring in any stray carts(within reason) that are not secured in the corral.

Ha! I was about to post "I know you guys are living large, why don't you have a beater to run to the grocery store?"

I take the beater 99% of the time. The last time I made an exception was because it was the crack of dawn on Sunday (but I still parked far away from the entrance).

I took this pic after I parked because I fully expected some idiot would be parked next to me when I came out.

I park far away and strategic as well. Weather I am driving the truck or the 911.
And if there is an incline I park up hill.
I will always remember seeing a stray cart roll into a park car one day in the costco lot one afternoon.

my volvo 745turbo came pre-dented
it had a large dent in the front Q- panel

but was in good shape and cheap
so I asked what hit it
answer a shopping cart
scratched my head a bit
and the seller said the cart rolled in to a busy street
and was hit by a speeding truck
and flew back into the p-lot
and hit the car going about 30 mph
good story anyway
and it was a good car

10 years ago a lady friend of mine moved her business down to Richardson, Texas and took her new Jaguar with her.
She came back to CA three years later & her baby looked like it had been in a riot.
Not sure if it was Texas or that she was careless...but she said that they didn't seem to value their cars like in CA.
