'67 Mustang Stolen / Recovered

$110,000 Race Car Stolen In Front Of San Ramon Home « CBS San Francisco

I do wonder if his speculation is true: they saw him in Sonoma, followed him home, then stole it the next day.

Next question is, why would you not park your $110k car in a garage? Of course, North Bay property prices being what they are, maybe the garage is reserved for his Ferrari and the wife's SUV. I hope it wasn't an old couch sitting in the garage.

Didn't sound like it was recovered?

Oh sorry there's a subsequent story that it was found in an Oakland tow yard, the tow truck decals were removed but the car was still on the flatbed.

Once caught, castration seems like mild punishment.

The theives tow it and drop it somewhere for a few days, in case it has lowjack.
SOP.

The police could have set up a sting and caught these guys.

Police Recover San Ramon Man

Close.
There were no decals on the tow vehicle. The decals were on the side of the enclosed trailer which carried the car.
Good police work.

Hard to believe 1) that car is actually worth $110K; 2) a fellow cannot park a $100K car in front of their home in CA without it being stolen. That is essentially a new Cayenne these days.
