The incident happened a year ago but is being cycled in the media because she found a lawyer. She was committed to a psychiatric ward due to erratic behavior. Bottom line, the media, all of which are using the same single story source, are spinning this as a mental detention solely because of her owning a BMW and claims of being a banker, being followed by Obama on Twitter, and being African American--her lawyer's claim in a press release. The truth is hidden in the HIPPA protections of privacy, which neither the police nor the hospital can release. Only at trial will we know if the detention was because of her car or some mental/emotional issues that led to bizarre behaviors that have conveniently been left out of the reporting.
