Yes, I'm jealous

While I'm stuck in my office, eating lunch at my desk, waiting for the Fed announcement (portfolio manager/equity trader), I have to endure looking outside at this:

What, you want to go across a bridge or two?

sammyg2 09-17-2015 09:24 AM

Here, let me fix that for you:

Near convention center. Luckily 25 floors up in case that happens again. That was before my time. I've only been here seven years.

My first office was on the 29th floor of the PNC (then PNB) building at 5th and Wood in 1973.
Pgh is a great city!!!

I was standing right near where that photo was taken when they imploded the stadium. It was pretty cool to see. Tons of dust and debris.

ckelly78z 09-17-2015 10:57 AM

Three River Stadium ? or is it called something different now ?

gtc 09-17-2015 11:18 AM

Oh, I'm so sorry. That must really strain your eyes when you're trying to see what's happening in the game.

That is the baseball field - PNC Park.

The football field is now called Heinz Field.

It is baseball. Nothing is going on except a lot of spitting.

sammyg2 09-17-2015 12:29 PM

BTW the fed decided to leave it at zero for now.
But you already knew that .......

My first time there - in 2014 - beautiful place. Everyone tells me it wasn't always so, but it sure is now!

I remember the first time I was in that area. I was driving along in what was pretty much country, with a house here and there.

Then I went into the fort pitt tunnel, and when I exited the tunnel there right in front of my face was this giant city all lit up. Totally surprised me.

What is all the grey stuff in the sky? Seriously, that looks depressing. :)

I remember my family driving through Pittsburg several times in the early 70s when all the steel plants were going full bore (before the EPA stepped in) and belching black smoke and creating a sickening haze over everything....kinda like South Detroit now on the I75 corridor.

How unfortunately true that is. I almost hate the grey skies more than the snow and 0 degree winters. A little bit of a shock moving from Dallas.

I'm in the pic in the OP. Got to watch Coughlin tear up Kang's knee (a loss to the team similar to the Cubs losing Bryant), and Blanton and Walker destroy any chance for a series split. But what a fantastic venue to experience baseball, and what a phenomenal team to cheer for.
