Fire was confined to interior or did the engine compartment go too?

Is this the `86 Cab in PA by chance? If so, that looks to have been a pretty good/hot fire (especially near the rear of the car).
Keep in mind that the average temp of a structure fire is just under 600C. The melting point for Al is 660C, with many alloys being much lower.

I guess if you can get it at the right price, it might be worth the gamble.

It's definitely a gamble. Structure fire means you don't know running condition. "Is not a ran when crashed scenario"...

I would only buy it for the value of steel parts, such as crank, connecting rods, rocker arms and transmission internals. If anything more held up, bonus.

I know some people that did well on engine fires where the EFI burnt down on top and it was put out. But there, much of the drivetrain saw very little heat.

At that heat for any length of time, and then the water damage from putting it out, I would closely inspect every part you intend on using, or selling. Clearances, and tolerances could be compromised from the heating at different rates for different metals, and then the fast cooling process.
