In Jr. High and High school, we played in Forks, WA.

HaHa! Had this same moment 2 days ago at my house. Son's best friend is on the freshman football team. I get home from work at 4 and he's at my house, so I ask him why he isn't at practice. "It's raining." Their record is 0-4. I told him that's probably because the other teams practice in the rain. Maybe I was wrong, though...

As a long-time Duck I'm sure glad it never rains in Autzen Stadium.

I loved playing in rain, sleet - whatever. It was what made football football. It MIGHT rain? Someone is taking the game away from the players.

We don't agree on much Wd, but I'm with you 100% on this. Going home muddy, stinky, soaked...what exhilerating memories.

I live in NC too (moved from PA). I've never seen so many football and soccer games cancelled in my life. My guess is the root system is not very deep and the field would get shredded right away. Along with the fields not draining due to the red clay soil.

Mud Bowl is a tradition here. Along with the Naked Mile and Hash Bash.
I seen some weird shlit but it's all been good.
INXS played there once.

Now UofM jew president Mark S. Schlissel wants to get rid of decades of history and tradition.

Annual Mud Bowl at U-M in jeopardy after rogue SAE fraternity suspended by national chapter | MLive.com
"headquarters closed its U-M chapter this summer because of "health-and-safety violations and the failure of members to uphold the stringent policies and procedures outlined by the national organization.

Weghorst did not provide exact details about the reason for the chapter being disbanded."

At my HS it really depended on if it was Friday night, or Thursday/ Wednesday night games. JV/freshman would never play if you could see lightening in the distance. Varsity played usually no matter what. Ha that isn't even Texas hs football either

It mostly has to do with the potential for cloud to ground lightning is much higher.

Its more than far higher the frequency of where you are from in PA.

This is sitting out in the "rain" and pointing my camera at the sky and clicking every few seconds. Both of these are scare be bejeebus moments.

While it may just "rain" in lots of parts of the countries, that is not the case in this area.

Some attribute this to the pussification of america. I tend to agree. It follows in line with everyone that participates gets a trophy. Definitely don't agree with that.

If it's a thunderstorm then it becomes a safety issue and I can understand cancelling a game. Otherwise...

We had to snowblow the end zone out and the yard lines for one of our playoff games in HS. Good times.

That's the way I see it too. No lightening in the forecast here...just 1-2" of rain over the next few days

My wife is from Ashland but moved to Portland, we went to one of her daughters soccer games in the rain and about froze my sissy SoCal butt off!

In my defense let me say as a youth I bodysurfed SoCal in the winter with no wetsuit until my skin turned white.

and at the other end of the spectrum, attended the game at wife's 50th HS reunion in N. TX last friday night. The temp had dropped from 98 to cool balmy 94 at the 7:30 kickoff. Not exactly cool, crisp football weather now but could be playing in the sleet by late Nov.

Rain always meant that we would ditch school the next day and go ride dirt bikes in the mountains. So much fun.
