Eclipse, Now.
Happening right now, if you get out the door, you might see it.
|
Clouded over just after moonrise. Even the live NASA feed is clouded over. :(
|
Looking very celestial from Lawn Guyland
I have a 500mm lens and a multiplier on a tripod... but something is effed up... in any event I am seeing it and chimping it... |
If anyone gets a good pic or video can you post it here? I tried to show my 6 yr old son tonight but it's cloud ped over up here in Ontario Canada.

Been watching since the penumbral started - view here is amazing - perfectly clear, got my telescope out and fire pit blazing. Awesome! Totality now and a perfect view - can't ask for better conditions (although it'd be nice if it were slightly warmer out but certainly not a show-stopper).

Cloudy and overcast here, but we're out in the yard with our scope. You can make it out through the occasional break in cloud-cover.
|
I told you your moon-god would abandon you this night and now all doubters must be stoned
|
I'm turning into a wolf. Sorry...
|
You can stone wolfs.
It's totally doable. |

Moonrise looked brilliant with a clear sky. Started the bbq, din and then just past 9:00 went to check it out. Cloud cover with just a few glimpse of the eclipse. Admit to geeking out some of the rare events but this time left scopes packed away.
But did get my chuckle logging into the NASA feed. That kept my attention for only a few minutes and then clicked off. They had a terrible image anyways with cloud cover....... what the?? Yet there were two behind the desk, one dude with his official NASA shirt, laptops with NASA stickers, NASA sticker water bottle, NASA desk..... chitty chatting on and on about the mooooooooon. LOL Where does one get in on these gravy jobs? |

Unfortunately, there were low clouds when the blood part happened, missed that. Here it was when it rose a bit higher and the clouds parted for a moment.

My wife said she would look at the pics on the internet of it. I told her to get off her butt and get out here, and see something amazing. We saw the full moon minus about 10%. A half hour later, half of the moon was shaded, twenty minutes after that was the neatest sight, with just a crescent moon showing and the remainder of the moon visible in a dark red. I told my 16 year old son that the last time this happened, I was his age.
Cool evening entertainment while watching the last CSI episode. |
