Hissing air hose fittings

Any other skinflints out there?

All my air fittings hiss at me and I think if I could change out that rubber washer in the picture it would stop.

The deformed ones I have are about .575 OD .225 ID and about .14 thick. Anyone else replace these? Where would I get something like that?

Is it hissing all the time, or only when something is plugged in to it?

Just replace the whole thing. They're not very expensive.

Only when plugged in. The air pressure pushes that flange on the valve down on the rubber pretty hard when it is open

Not as cheap as a washer should be and everyone I know, their air fittings hiss if connected. It is pretty simple to unscrew that straight threaded fitting and put in a new washer if you found the right size.

What about the rubber piece in these guys? It appears to be custom molded but the Foster website says nothing about it.

If that's a Milton coupler you can buy replacement washers. They come in a 10 pack.
They're on their web site but I have no idea where to order them from.
If it's not a Milton then replace it with one.

Looks like Tooltopia has that Milton (MILS715) coupling for $3.32 (Might not be USA made?)

Save on Milton S-715 at ToolTopia.com

Miltons won't leak a little when something is plugged in to them? If so I'm interested...

the thing with the fittings is there are different types out there.

i would replace everything at the same time to make sure all are compatable.

i have some that hiss when plugged in, drives me freeking nuts.

just crank up the tunes

I have a habit of disconnecting a tool after use because they usually leak more when connected. I have yet to find one that doesnt leak.

The Harbor freight coupler is a very similar design.

It might even be better. Note the finer body thread and the brass valve instead of the steel one that corrodes in the Milton coupler.

The washers appear to be interchangeable.

No, no, if you use the HF coupling your compressor will explode and it will make you sterile!

For the past 15 years, all my air tool couplings have been purchased from HF. None of them leak air.

They're the Porsche of air couplings. Cheap? Nope
