WiFi security cams. - honest range.

who has an affordable wifi video cam security system, honest clear 125 foot range camera to base unit? Color and at least 720P preferred.

does the 2.4 ghz signal fizzle out after 50-75-100 foot range?

I have a couple Dropcams that I use outside. One is Hd and will only work within about 50ft range. The other one is not HD and it's range is about twice that. The Wi-Fi has to go thru the walls, but the pic with the Hd cam is in color and recordable with sound. $200 and easy to set-up.

Depends what's between them or if you have line of site. Look into Withings Home unit. I am testing them now and am pleased and cloud based recording is like $7 per month. The nice thing is you can zoom in to the picture and set motion alerts.

$25 ea. clearance at Walmart. Noticed online they're out of stock but likely at the stores until item depleted. Haven't tested the wif-fi range but so far overall impressive. Belkin F7D7601 NetCam WiFi Camera with Night Vision, White - Walmart.com

Try resiting your router to make it easier for camera to communicate with.
I use Foscam cameras, no complaints, reports right to your phone so no cloud costs

Foscam is great but it interferes with my garage door opener. Lots of threads in other forums...

bump my old post, with newer technology, any new testimonials.

you can get a pretty awesome wifi 1080p DVR and router, $300-500.

any updates?

I have a Lorex system I bought several years ago on sale from B&H. The DVR with 2 wireless cams was ~$300. One of the cameras failed after a year or so. Eventually I bought a three pack of the newer gen wireless cams and now have 4 operating. I have one mounted on my barn covering the driveway and its >150' from the base station (see image). Only issue I have is with the 4 wireless cams on 2.4ghz I do seem to be experiencing packet loss on my Wifi router I suspect due to interference on the 2.4ghz frequency. Eventually I will replace my Wifi router with a newer multi band unit which will hopefully resolve the issue.

I believe I've got the same Lorex (Flir) 2 camera system and it works well except the cameras will periodically freeze. Unplug / plug back in and they're fine again.
The internet says I need to hold the channel from roaming. I need to learn more about this conflict issue.
Remote display to my Smart phone is the slickest feature.

Would Arlo Pro meet the requirements?
I have the non-Pro version and Arlo was asked to add a local storage-version. That is Pro.

In 2013, I built a new R&D centre for my former team.

At our previous location, we had several cameras that were absolutely useless at catching any of the thieves who broke into vehicles parked at that location over the previous 7 years. We had several fuzzy videos that showed what might as well have been Bigfoot stealing our chit.

I insisted on a demo from the security company before I commited to the high end IP cameras at the time. I arrived at the security company's shop with my pickup and parked it within 50' of their front door (camera was mounted above front door).

I was wearing a ball cap and as I walked to the building, I looked right at the camera. I then returned to my truck and left my hat behind.

I went through all of the pleasantries of their demo and then said, 'Ok, my truck is parked out front - what is my plate number?' They couldn't get this right.

Then I said, 'Ok, here's an easy one - What did my hat say on it?' Again, it was unintelligible and quite embarrassing for them.

We never did install security cameras in that building.
