220 Volt or 110 Volt Spa

220 if you have it. Cheaper.

Don't even think about a 110. Even the 220v ones vary with 20,30, 50 amp models.

A 110 is enough for a bath tub. If you want it to heat or and have multiple jets alternating between the two, you need a 220 30 amp. If you want it to heat and jet at the same time, you need a 50 amp.

We got a top of the line one free from a neighbor for the cost of moving it. He couldn't sell a $10,000 new, 10 year old now, jacuzzi for next to nothing.

Go on Craigslist, these things are dirt cheap. Mover was $400.

How did you come up with the amperage without looking at the tags or installation manual?

220 is the way to go given the choice

The model I have autos elects based on available amperage. I ran 220 30 amp as that's all my electrical panel could handle...

Don't forget to include the cost of rewiring your panel to feed the spa. It was $800 in material alone... And it was a bear to run as the house was already drywalled at the time....

Just make sure it's grounded properly...

With a ground fault detector. Lots of places in the house they are overkill, in a spa they are needed.

Seriously - a 220 circuit is simple and easy to do.

Seen on Craigs list, 110 volts,will match the colors of the back yard. So my wife wants it. Just asking about the pros and cons of the differing voltages, kind of liking the plug and play idea of it of course I would plug into a Gfi I outlet.

The cons on a hot tub are your wallet.

Well if it's 110 volts with a pump and heater, there will be no risk of the water getting too hot....or else you need to install an 80 Amp breaker.

I got a 2 persons 1000 litters (~250 US Gallon) the can be on 110V or 220V.

Being the King of Procrastination, after 8 years its still on 110V.

The only thing when on the 110V option is when you put the pump on high the heater stop.

I keep mine at 104 F (heat up to 105 F) and at -25 F, it will go from 104/105 F down to 102 F in the 20 minutes high pump cycle which is exactly the time it take to drink a 500ml beer.
