I love my Subaru but.....

Subaru parts network expensive and not readily available. I needed a o- ring for my power steering inlet tube. They stopped making that tapered o-ring for the 04 model. I would have to replace the pump, bracket and bolt because they make a different pump from the original. I ordered two o-rings from the 03 model to see if they would work. No luck. I guess I will live with the whining. Oh yeah....19 bucks for two o- rings and shipping.

There is the one bolt that hold down the fitting that you are looking to replace, start the car, loosen that bolt just enough to be able to slide that fitting around slightly and tighten it back yo when the pump becomes quiet.
I know sounds nuts but that is the trick

Shot in the dark, but can you figure out the Viton o-ring inner and outer diameters and order them from a supplier ?

I've got 3 Subarus here in Mississippi, the land of NO Subarus. I purchase all the maintenance parts I need online through dealerships in either Washington State (Chaplains) or most recently a dealership in Colorado (Heuberger). The trick is finding a dealer with a good set of online parts diagrams that include the part number you are looking for. Bryan Subaru in New Orleans has a good set of factory diagrams, but their prices (along with my local Stealership) aren't nearly as discounted as the areas where there are a bunch of Subarus in the market i.e. PNW, Colorado and East Coast. Easy shopping once you find the actual Subaru part number.

Call it the _____ tax.

Change fluids.
A little cleaner. Repeat. A little epoxy gasket sealant.
Let set. Resemble.
Drive it until it breaks.
