Houston Hotels

[Old Car Nut]

Don't post often but always looking,

Taking a cruise out of Houston in January. Need a hotel for Friday and Saturday night.
Any recommendations for areas to stay. We won't have a car.
Is the Boardwalk area a worth a visit for a couple of young at heart seniors?

WE've stayed here a couple of times and really enjoyed it. Ask for a corner room on the 2nd or 3rd floor... check it out on TripAdvisor. Easy walk to the Strand, restaurants, etc.

Oops, assumed you would sailing out of Galveston. the Houston Cruise Terminal is shutting down next spring the last I read about it anyway. As to the boardwalk in Kemah, never been there in January but the weather may be 80 and sunny or it may be rainy and 30 or any point in between.

I heard that this was the last season for the Houston cruise port. Was hoping to find a hotel near the port with something to keep us busy.

I stay at the Hotel Derek while in Houston but there are better places I guess - stay away from the Hotel Preet!

Thanks. Hotel Derek looks great. Looks like Galleria area is better choice than Kemah.
