WTB-'77 Chevy LUV CA smog legal carb and intake manifold

Need to fix a Isuzu 1.6 gas motor for CA smog. It currently has a real live Italian 45 DCOE side draft with matching manifold. Not smog legal in CA. Any help or direction also appreciated.

The DCOE with matching twin will be for sale in another post when I determine the going price.

I hate to say it...
No...I love to say it...

"The king has no clothes."

Why doesn't California have a better CARB system to deal with older high-mileage cars?
And non-OEM aftermarket parts which work perfectly well or better?
And super clean imports?

Preaching to the choir.....we used to have a rolling 30 year exemption but that asshat Arnold repealed it. Hypocrite....owned an out of State registered Hummer that wasn't CA legal. Cars in the 70s and 80s had one off smog equipment that is NLA

Gonna try the company listed above. There IS an exemption route thru the BAR but it is convoluted.....

I see a potential new market for those NLA smog parts.
(I'm usually behind the curve tho)

They have to CARB certified replacement parts, that process is pricey.

EDIT: Mini Truck...can't help....

Don't give up the fight yet.
The smog techs are sometimes bottom-of-the-barrel.
I was almost one.

If the carbs work on that motor, and it burns and runs clean at the tailpipe, then you might be able to get a waiver from an official CARB rep.
It's worth a try first.

Check with certified gold-star, test-only centers, and talk to the people about procedures and options. Anonymously if possible.
There are probably places that will "pre-test" a car to see what it's blowing.
A little tuning and jetting, another check or two, and it's running like tits.

It might save you more time in the long run than chasing the Whac-A-Mole game.

Gonna try that exemption route but also look into a more modern engine swap. Here is the full story I posted on the mini truck and914 world forum:

I have two rust free Chevy LUVS. 75 and 77. The 75 needs a trans and engine and likely so does the 77. The 77 has a running drive train but the PO stripped the smog equipment off which is NLA new OR used. Strong motor but with a 45 DGOE Weber side draft that needs jetting work. It sputters on transition from idle to WOT. Typical Weber...

So, what modern engine and trans will fit in the engine bay(s) without much cutting or welding besides engine mounts and such?

I have done 4 to 6 and V8 conversions in Porsche tubs but never on an import truck. I have a full set of tools and a welder setup, Argon wire fed 220v, yada yada....

Who has been there done that? A cheap V8 wreck with a Turbo 400 swap would be nice.....V6, Subie Roo, whichever.

So my partner has decided to do a V8 swap on the smog exempt 75. Dropping in an aluminum Mr Good Wrench motor and 350 auto.

On the '77, he will do the tortuous exemption route thru the BAR and the smog referee. You have to have a fail paperwork trail before BAR will help locate parts and/or issue a waiver. 4 hours of phone work and keyboard pounding.

Thanks for all the advice.
