Apple i phone and downloading...

So I started to download my Apple 14S 8gb i phone with an update at 7 am and it finished at 11am. However I got no incoming texts or calls during that time. Somebody was trying to call me and text me and they told me later they had tried to contact me. Is this normal? So the update overrides and defeats the purpose of the phone. What the heck!

It's the operating system.

At some point you are replacing, in whole or parts, the current OS with a new one.

They can't both run simultaneously.

In order for the new parts to be put in place the old ones need to be removed.

There will be down time.

Apple 14S? You are WAY ahead of the curve my man. Does it come with an optional iJet Pack?

No, but Siri can read your subconscious thoughts, and Bono's entire library will be downloaded directly to your brain, overwriting all childhood memories.
