Dave White
 

Hope this is not a re-post but I wanted to give the Porsche group a heads-up on the passing of Dave White last week. Dave was involved in Porsche motorsports for over 35 years here in Florida Very successful racer and his car set-ups were always spot-on. I have posted a link to his obit. Not mentioned is that he and the late Bob Akin had a race school at Bridgehampton years ago. The ranks are thinning.

Forever immortalized in my 50th Anniversary Watkins Glen poster. That's him leading a pack up the esses in his white (White?) Carrera with the "Dave White Racing" sticker across the windshield.

Here is a shot of Dave in 1978 the year he won the IMSA GTU championship. This is at the Camel GT Labor Day Road Atlanta weekend. He allowed me and some friends to be added to his crew list so we could get in to the race for free. He didn't have to do it but he was just that kind of guy.

This is sad news. I got to know Dave and Donna when he drove for an IMSA team I was a fabricator / mechanic on in the mid 70's.
What a strong, nice family and extremely devoted to one another. Dave was very kind to everyone; just down to earth folks.
Saw them last 11 years ago at his shop in Tampa.
